Blendtec versus $100 Cusinart - thoughts ?

before I stared the raw/ vegan journey a few months ago - I purchased a powerful Cusinart - it blends fruit smoothies quite well - but adding greens produces a horrible soupy like smoothie .. for now I have been adding the Super Greens powder from Trader Joes ... I am torn between this approach versus the added $400 on a new Blendtec.. anyone else in a similar situation ? thoughts please! thanks

Abhi - I did not because my Blendtec in the West was 110v and it requires a 220v here in India. there is a distributor in Delhi selling Blendtecs that are 220v. I'm in the process of looking for a used 220v to have here. I miss my Blendtec

Blendtec or VitaMix is obviously a matter of preference. But I just want to add one thing: I've never needed a tamper with my Blendtec. I hated constantly having ti stop blending with the VitaMix just to push food down the sides. And the tamper that comes with the VM isn't always sufficient - sometimes a spatula was required. Just my 2 cents. Either will work .....

I used a VitaMix for years before knowing about Blendtec. I must admit that I prefer Blendtec by far. VitaMix definitely has a better warranty & service. But the Blendtec blender itself is far better in a number of ways IMHO. But either one beats a Cuisinart or any food processor for blending. It is 2 very different things. Get a Blendtec or VitaMix - green powders are convenient but are not real foods.

blendtec has a new combo w/ the larger jar and blade - that is hands down better than Vitamix ... no questions there . I have seen them in side by side demos. my question was more about the actual purchase /investment.

I'm going to be purchasing a Vita-Mix as well. I'm going to be driving down to a home show about 3 hours away just to see the live demonstration. I'm certain this is the one I want, but I want to see it in action first before I make my final decision. I looked in to the Blendtec as well simply to see which one I would rather have, and can't see any reason why it's better than the Vita-Mix, but I'm just going by reviews, videos and such.

Actually I recommend the VitaMix hands down. It will change your life as a raw foodie. I broke down and got the VitaMix after getting $250 from my rents for my birthday, it helped with the purchase.

The Vitamix i only $50 more and is well worth it, better warranty, better customer service, and variable speed. It doesn't sound like that would mean a lot, but trust me, it does! Buying a high speed blender will not only speed up your smoothie making process, but allows you to do a lot of stuff that you would do in your food processor. I now used my Vita-Mix more than the food processor, it's just so much easier, and less to clean up.

You're allergic. I have the same reaction and ended up getting allergy tests. Just have to wait it out and let it heal. Apparently you can build allergies to pineapple, so that sucks.
