Give it to me Raw

Did you ever notice how lovely it feels to smile at a perfect stranger and get a smile in return? How about how extraordinary the feeling of collecting a piece of litter and throwing it away? What about the satisfaction you get by helping an elderly person out to their car with groceries, or standing at the door just a bit longer to help a mother and her 3 children get by? Even the random wave you give to the person driving by you on your morning walk could turn their entire morning around. Do you take stock into the energy you exude? Do you realize how grand your effect on the world can be. Even a small measure of kindness can change someone's day. Think of this: Henry is 72 today. Most of his friends have past on. He has no children and he is a widower. It's his birthday and the biggest and best wish he can muster up id that God would send his to a better place tonight in his sleep. He rolls out of bed and places his feet on a cold floor that sends shivers up his spine. Immediately his arthritis kicks in and reminds him of his 72 years on this world. He walks to the end of his driveway to get the paper (although he makes attempts to maintain normalcy he is just fighting off the inevitable sorrow that now accompanies his day to day). I teenager from down the road wizzes by on his skateboard, and recalls memories of a lifetime forgotten. Back to the house for some metamucill and a read. A knock at the door. That teenage kid..."probably a joke, just here to harass me"..."Hi Mr. Nelson! I just wanted to tell you to have a great day!" Just for a moment Henry was happy. And for that moment nothing else in the world mattered. That was the best birthday gift he had ever gotten; the reminder that even when sorrow is your closest companion, happiness can be a knock away.
If you are trying to recall these feelings maybe you should make a point to do something nice today. Savor the experience, you'll thank me tomorrow!

I need to make an amendment to this post. I said at the end you'll thank me. It's been burdening my spirit ever since. So, correction and humility are sure to follow. In staying true to my spirit; if you thank me, thank the spirit that lives in me, the spirit that lives in me is Holy for it is my lords, and my lords spirit is my Gods spirit. Any good that comes from me was put there by my Heavenly Father. The glory is not mine but belongs to the Lord Jesus. Blessings to you all!! Love and Light!!!

Kindness is contagious. Kindness shines and rewards us with self-satisfaction and self-admiration.

The task of collecting a piece of garbage and throwing it away or cleaning up the bathroom mess made by some stranger is self-satisfying.

I mentioned something similar to this in my blog post today. Its sooo true, though. I love smiling and saying goodmorning to people on my morning walks. I love seeing someones face light up and notice a little bounce in their step afterwards.

I thank you both today and tomorrow, and heck all the days to come. :-) Its a powerful and healing message, and its great to see you are putting it out there for lots of people to read. So thank you! :-)

What an outstanding post! :) Great story, Rachel!! I totally agree. The smallest gestures can make someone's day. Smile at someone today... it's a free gift you can give someone :)
