A dentist in my class doesn't support organic and I want your opinion

Right now I'm taking a dental assisting class. We covered a nutrition chapter in class which supported the consumption of organic foods. My instructor asked the class if there was a corrolation between the hormones in conventionally raised meat and dairy and early puberty in children. I said that there is a correlation since they do inject the calf with hormones so it can grow faster in a short period of time. To which one of my classmates commented, "We all have hormones."
I tried not to debate but it got worse.

There is a dentist in my class who simply said that there is no point of consuming organic food and that if we eat organics exclusively then we'd be supressing our immune systems. She also said that there is no proof that if a produce is labeled organic that it is organic.

The dentist stated that the teeth in our mouth are impacted because our diets of eating soft cooked food are making our jaws smaller. Our past ancestors consumed raw crunchy foods and did not have the problem of impacted teeth. The jaw could fit all the dentition which included the 3rd molars which are known as "wisdom teeth." She was stating all this fact and then she states that there is no reason to change your diet that we should keep eating the way we are eating since that is the way it is now.

So I asked the dentist, "So do you prefer eating pesticides since that's what you eat along with the conventional food?" I don't remember what she said but she seemed stymied. Some other girl commented to our discussion on nutrition but no one was supporting me. I feel a little devistated. I don't eat all organic but I still support it. A lady in my class said that "if it hasn't killed me yet then there isn't a reason for me to stop." She laughed. I felt sad. I'm aware of too much and I keep running into social environments that allienate me.

If we keep on the way we are at supporting Monsanto, turning a blind eye to what is going on in the world then we will leave a barren waste land to our children. You can kiss your 150 k job good bye. What does more sick patients mean to you? Is that more money in your pocket? What does education mean when you can't do something beneficial with it.

I honestly can't believe what is coming from peoples' mouths. All the information is there and seeing people going to college or graduating from college who don't even acknowledge it in this day in age floors me.

So what are we on this earth for? I don't think enough people know.

Please tell me what you think. I need some support.

Angus some of your points sync well with me. Doctors even disagree with eachother. I know in the USA doctors specialize in different areas of medicine so I think when a doctor is sepcializing in a certain area of the body he will become an expert in that area.

At least what this dentist in my class understands is that the body is such a vast topic. Our body is an infinate world of complex processes and functions. So when a doctor learns one area of the body he is then able to concentrate on trully zoning in on a specific spot of the body. I honestly think that it's really easy to generalize the body when you are trying to study and understand such a vast area.

So I think Dentistry can be affective since it's zoning in on the mouth. And even the mouth can be a complex area to understand. You are right about keeping the gums healthy. Now that people take medications, exposed to radiation, fluoride, soda and pollution it creates more challenges. The dentist doesn't just work on teeth. They also detect malignant growths in the mouth and some do reconstructive surgery if a child or baby has a cleft lip. So there are so many variables involved in dentistry or any branch of the medical field.

I'm not claiming to be an expert but since there are so many more challenges today in the dental field I think it's a big mistake to just debunk any option that would benefit the patient.

Dentists are a little bit more in-tune with cause and effect than Doctors - in general that is.

Because we live in this scientific/reason age - people MAKE up reasons and science because they have a microscope.
Science and reason is all in a grain of rice. Every law of the universe is the same to the piece of rice as it is to the, plant, animal, human.
Dialectical thinking by Szekely needs to be studied by people who want to know WHY the body heals itself.

My dentist told me not to eat fruit because of the sugar - then they give us nylon tooth brushes to rub against the hard enamel in the body. PLEASE - dental people - keep to fixing people who have been bad to their bodies' cavities and replacing teeth for people who have lost them.

WE NEED TO KEEP OUR TEETH TO CHEW - but it's so, so, so easy if you live naturally in the first place.
Keep food out of in-between your teeth - keep the blood up to the gums healthy - meaning your whole system.

organic - picked ripe - grown on good soil - takes less nerve energy to digest than pesticide food etc.
if your nerve energy is too low - u get toxemia - retention of poison - the nerve energy won't eliminate it until the nerve energy is restored.

remove causes of disease and replace with causes of health.

not all dentists and doctors are bad.. my doc has a sign on his door saying "organic foods are not expensive, conventional foods are cheap because they lack nutrients and contain hundreds of toxins" wish I could fit that on a bumpersticker!

Hey Rebeka, I'm going be taking Dental Assisting this September (I took Dental Hygiene, but didn't pass. I want to start as an assistant and do hygiene down the road - it was quite a stressful program...)
Anyway, I just wanted to say good for you for finding your own opinions! This dentist character clearly prefers having someone else's opinion (i.e. the opinion of mainstream, economically-influenced, corporate government!) instead of doing the mental-gymnastics of considering any alternatives.
I really wish "The China Study", by: T. Colin Campbell, was on our reading list for the nutrition class!!! One day Rebeka, you and me are going to have a healthy impact on healthcare unlike the unconscious, dentist-tool in your class :)

I know what you mean yogaBrudder you are just doing your best to fuel your body. I don't believe anyone needs to be dogmatic about it. Even though I eat conventional, I support organic and my body has known a difference between good organic produce or good produce in general to something of a frankenstein creation.

Had a college buddy and when we got together years later she very brazenly announced, "Organic food won't make you live longer". I thought about it: might very well make you live better; that's enough for me. Organics look better, taste better, feel better. Great comments from the crew!!

A friend at work bites my butt about my food. Later during the day I might nail him on it when he's not expecting it, if I'm in a good mood, often the case. Not trying to be Jesus.

"Marketing will take your last dime as they sell you the best casket to bury you."

That is well said. When I felt outnumbered in my opinions is just reminded me of all the other times in my life that I felt outcasted. I really needed the support from people who support organic and know what is right. I will do whatever I can to make the best choices and hope it leads me to the right place.

You are exactly right - enought people don't know. I can't tell you how much research I have done this year and am now completely stunned that there really is no one place to get health information as we grow through life. It should start with informed parents properly taking care of their own health in order to share healthy knowledge with their children. I think the truth is actually in alot of those ole wives tales grama used to tell.

Some people don't like change. I'll be honest with you I trusted the water out of our tap until about two months ago. Then once I became more informed, or once I "cared" about caring.... if that makes sense to you, I started using filtered water and even treat alot of the water I drink with Baking Soda now.

I think the best thing you can do in that situation is arm yourself with your own research. For instance why do 2 out of three people get cancer in this day in time? Are people aware that WWII Nerve gas is used on strawberries? Its extremely important to buy organic strawberries.

Honestly people just don't "understand" or "why bother" is their thought process.... it comes from them not making their health or their environment a priority or not realizing that the things you can't see really can hurt you.

Anything that I have mentioned here you might have questions about... just google it or go to youtube and type in a key word. I've used Youtube as a world of knowledge by listening to doctors and people share their experience and knowledge. I've been feeding off of it like a sponge.

She said: "She was stating all this fact and then she states that there is no reason to change your diet that we should keep eating the way we are eating since that is the way it is now."

WOW - talk about conforming to the main stream media and not giving a damn about what is right. Marketing will take your last dime as they sell you the best casket to bury you.

I've also heard that when you go completely raw there is no plaque on your teeth. And a crowded mouth of teeth is a mouth that needed dental work, why change !! We have dentist to take those teeth out for you, no worries...LOL

Honestly I just don't think people are prepared for the truth and they will speak and defend what they know. I wouldn't take it personal just consider yourself very blessed to be as informed as you are and continue to arm yourself with credible information for future circumstances that are just around the corner.

Blessings love and light!

Wendy

Hi El-bo, You're absolutely right; sodium is not the problem, but sodium chloride, and inorganic mineral salt which always causes water retention and raises blood pressure. We don't need any of that.
