Give it to me Raw

Had a 'warmup yesterday.. ;~)... today is my first official day on the 811RV. I have to tell you.... i am feeling OK. Seems I have more energy already.

80% carbs, 10% protein and fats.... (caloric content). The fact is - you have 5% fat... from an all fruit/greens diet... so any additional fat must be minimized.

I was eating WAY 2 MUCH FAT !!

This should be a change for the better.

I did have my vinegar low fat dressing yesterday and was happy with that. I threw in some dates and was surprised by how good it was! For the next salad I may try just the dates and no dressing or maybe the raisins as well, thanks :)
I actually like eating plain greens but only rocket and parsley. I would eat some tomatoes or mushrooms along with them. I think I may try rocket and grapes. Maybe a good combo...
I'm feeling a bit headachy today. I'm actually transitioning away from coffee as well and just having green tea when the headache gets too bad. Will stop the tea as well in the next few days though.
Just to let you know.. I'll be on vacation for about two weeks leaving on thursday. Going to Austria with a friend to do a bit of hiking, biking, relaxing and so on. So you won't here from me for that time...

Great stuff folks - thanks.

For the salad dressing.. you can always skip oil for 2 days.. and have a "normal" dressing on day3. The greens/fruits should have the omegas you need.

Today.. I had romaine with 2 tbsp of soaked raisins mixed in.. it was GREAT. You get smacked with the sweet then earthy tastes...

You could likely sprinkle a bit of seaweed on there... or use different fruits (per connie) to "jackup" the greens.

This is a good change for me... i should start feeling pretty good later this week !!

I was raised on a heavy meat and cheese diet, I always hated leafy greens. Gradually when I started getting into raw foods I would just get a romaine heart and eat it plainly. The motivation to do this, even though it was boring, was thinking about how powerful it was for my body-- like eating pure sunlight. I was amazed how quickly my tastebuds adapted. Now it's a very sensual, enjoyable experience just to eat most greens straight (especially romaine) without a desire to dress it. I'm not saying go cold-turkey and do this every time, but it might be useful as an experiment :)

Thanks a lot Lizz! I usually don't have nut butters at home as I'm the person who can empty the whole jar in one sitting ;)
I will try your other recommendations though! I usually only have fruit and green smoothies throughout the day which makes it easy to save the fat for the dressing.
Funny what you say about the romaine! In the very beginning of experimenting with raw I tried eating plain broccoli and green kale juices which I could hardly even swallow! I kinda thought it had to be part of the diet until I realised the same thing as you :)

I still have some issues with the salad dressing issue as well, Mareike. I just usually make sure to save my fat portion for the dressing. One thing I found works very well is to use 1-2 tbsp of nut butter, as apposed to nuts straight, it seems to make dressing stretch more. Celery root, corn, fresh peas, and beets make really good dressing stretchers for nut based dressing. My fav no fat dressing is papaya and lime juice blended. Using a combo of lime, lemon, and oj also seems to be a base that has some umpf to it. Also I think that adjusting the kind of veg and green you use in the salad helps. I would always say "but I hate romaine without dressing" then it dawned on me, well if I hate romaine without dressing, why the frig do I eat romaine in the first place. Now I grow flats of mache in my window sill (often also called corn salad) and I could eat mache all day with nothing on it at all.

Hey! Funny surprise to see my name in the title of your post ;)

So far it's going pretty good! I went out last night and in addition to (I think it is) detox I'm feeling rather foggy and tired today. But concerning my eating it's going really well :)
In my last two challenges I experienced a better overall feeling after two to three days. Isn't it great how quickly you can feel heaps better!!

Just one thing that still bothers me are the salad dressings.. I just love a big salad drenched in dressings made of oil, vinegar and seasonings. Now that it's apparently okay to have a small tablespoon of olive oil a day I'm thinking I might skip the 'rule' of not using vinegar or spices today and make myself a low fat toxic dressing.... I will try some of the dressings Rachel Harmony recommended to me but I didn't make it to buy the ingredients yet.

Happy for you that you already feel a difference!
Have a great Sunday!

Hey Russ! Awesome. I just ordered Doug Graham's book and I've been 811RV since Wednesday. So far it's awesome. I'm doing a lot of tai chi / chi gung so the combo effect on my energy is fantastic. I'm definitely around for support as a brand new 80/10/10 convert myself :) Much love.
