Give it to me Raw

I made my first raw cheesecake last night. Hmm....it tasted great right after I processed the nuts and all the other ingredients. But once it was set up in the freezer, it didn't seem as appealing. Perhaps I am still looking for that old SAD cheesecake taste and texture. It's ok, but I'm not sure I will make it again. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to a delectable experience. Oh well. Hopefully I will have better luck with other desserts in the future. (=^_^=)

Hi RawBin. Let me know if you like the cheesecake. It lasts for quite a while in the freezer. Just let it sit out for 10-15 min. before serving a piece. SAD stands for Standard American Diet. Happy New Year to you! (=^_^=)

Thanks for the recipe, I just asked for it seconds ago and then I found it on your next post... which I hadn't looked at yet!

What recipe did you use? I had soaked cashews for an alfredo sauce yesterday and was amazed at how creamy it tasted! That got me to thinking that I'd like to make a cheese cake. (a big family favorite!)
Also, I'm new to the site, and I'm seeing "SAD" frequently. I'm guessing it's traditionally cooked food? I've pondered, but haven't figured it out yet... What does "SAD" stand for?

Oh, do try this recipe. I didn't think it turned out good at first. However, when I left it in the freezer over night, it did end up turning out really good. I even served a piece to a non-raw friend who thinks anything off the path of the SAD diet is just rediculous and crazy, and she "loved" it. I did tell her it was dairy-free and she didn't even ask me what was in it. She probably thought I would tell her a bunch of funky ingredients and just would rather have not known. That's fine. But it was funny to me that she raved how good it was! (=^_^=)

Cheesecake is one raw food I keep meaning to try. I used to love cheesecake, but developed an intolerance to dairy products. I'm very curious to see what a raw cheesecake tastes like. I won't really be able to compare it to the "real" thing, because I haven't had it in years... but maybe that's a good thing!

By the way, I meant to post an update to this.....this "cheesecake" did end up turning out pretty darn good after all. I just had to leave it in the freezer over night. I brought a piece to my sister's house and 3 of them tried it and really liked it. They were surprised that the food processor could produce the texture of this delish dessert, and that it was made with cashews and not cream cheese! (=^_^=)

Oh, you are fortunate. I use to LOVE the old cheesecake. I have made myself sick on it, not to mention also "clogged" my system! Even though it is a fond memory, I absolutely know that I will not do that again. At this point, I feel I would be satisfied by just experiencing the scent. Some things linger in the memory banks.
