Give it to me Raw

I just bought 2 books online:

-Conscious Eating by Gabriel Cousins

-The 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Douglas N. Graham

I am very excited, for this is another huge step in the raw food lifestyle for me: get EDUCATED!

If anyone has anything to say about those two books or any other books I should look into, please leave a comment!

"Spiritual Nutrition" takes it up a few notches and into an ideal that is actual....one needs to commit to that and let it unfold...into your awareness. These are FAT books too!

I am looking forward to the co -created Gabriel & David book or DVD. pretty dynamic duo
for sure. also looking forward to what you think of any of these books after a nice healthy read. i find myself reading constantly from several at a time even. :-)

Without a doubt....."Naked Chocolate" ranks high...but my first David Wolfe book is "The Sunfood Diet Success System". You will find yourself referencing a lot of information and also unlearning what you have learned and learning something much better!! Wolfe has a style that reads well and keeps you informed and not bored. The Best Ever!!! peace!

Can anyone recommend which David Wolfe book to pick up?

Cool! I was about to order 80/10/10, I'll pick up Conscious Eating, too. Thanks!

I have to agree with everyone's comments on Conscious Eating--love it!!! I'm also not surprised you're loving 80-10-10 as it's excellent for athletes. It's really great to see someone so young so involved already in raw foods ... and so passionate about climbing. I did a lot of climbing (for fun, not competitively) in the early 1990's, and I can see why you love it. Life just took a different turn for me or I would have continued. It's terrific exercise and just feels so GOOD!

Hi, Ashley!

Conscious Eating is quite an important read. Cousins is a wordsmith of the tallest order. Very good choice on that one.

Interesting to note, his chapters on enzymes draw very, very heavily from a book that recommend above all others: Dr. Edward Howell, Enzyme Nutrition. Cousins cites Howell quite frequently, and moreso draws specifically on Howell's research.

It is my personal belief that Enzyme Nutrition is not just "another raw food book", but instead a call-to-arms to severely question the path that we have been on for the past 100 years, with denaturing and destroying our food. There are only a half-dozen books or so that I would consider "life-changing reads" ... Howell's work is probably #2 on my list.

Good luck!!

Greetings Ashley, I am excited for you as you embark on getting educated. I believe you chose two books that chose you as well. Conscious Eating is a wonderful book loaded with information that you end up reading the book again and again and again. I happen to work with the Dr himself at his Rejuvenation Center called the Tree of Life. Recently we had David Wolfe and Dr Cousens speaking on www.gabrielcousens.com And they had some information in regards to the 80-10-10 and just like Conscious Eating it is not going to be for everybody.
I have been raw for three years and the inspiration for that was Dr Cousens Rainbow Green Live book....which led me to Conscious Eating and then onto Spritual Nutrition. Wonderful books worth reading most definitely. i would be interested in your thoughts once you have started or finished Conscious Eating and 80-10-10. Namaste! -dart

Hi Ashley,
I love Conscious Eating! It is about my favorite book. I just love Gabriel, though, and everything he does seems blessed divinely.
Its like a textbook, but if you just read a little at a time, it is very "nourishing"!

Hey Michele! We fast 8-10 people per year for 6 weeks and most of them have amazing experiences. Incidentally, though some people imagine there's a need to "work up" to a long fast like this, many are fasting this long for the first time; in fact,...

Hi Jeff, Every organism is completely self-healing. When sick or badly injured enough, every species will lie down and rest completely. Fasting itself has no curative power, but when we stop processing food (the single most energy expensive proce...
