Give it to me Raw

Ive been doing good with my exercise and drinking my green juices but i got pizzed when i checked my bld sugar this a.m. and it was 120- that's high for an am testing. So Im like daym I daym near starve all the freakin time and although my ranges are pretty good for someone not taking meds, its still high.

I was reading on a site like this dedicated to diabetics and they were talking about how its best to take your medicine before you end up blowing your pancreas then the next blog talks about the ill effects of the diabetic medicine that I was given. It's like daym, I try to go raw and "fix" myself but all the while i could be doing damage because I'm not taking the medicine...that they say it detrimental in its own way as well. wtf

So this afternoon I'm thinking I'm tired of feeling empty so I'm reading about how important fiber is for diabetics and how a good source of fiber is beans so I go buy some and tear into them (organic white northern) and afterward my bld sugar had spiked more. I was thinking that because of the fiber-it should not have hardly spiked (2hrs later)- even though it is starchy- its of the good type of carbs but it did.

Either way the straying away from my intended juicing period continued- I ended up buying (and tearing into) some organic flax cereal and with organic soy milk. The cereal tastes sweet so I don't know if It will spike my bld sugar reading or not, Im going to check in about an hour, and I ended up re- filling my medicine and I took some of my medicine tonite.

I do have to admit this is the healthiest binge I have ever... ever... ever had! and ya'll should have seen me trying to tackle Pilates yesterday, I was screaming for my maker! Pilates has shown me that my body is soooo freakin weak- i just never realized since i can do "every day" things with little difficulty.

Okay now i see im pizzed and my frustrations come from trying my hardest yet failing despite of it. I should have learned coping skills for this a long time ago. I still remember being in Elementary school and being pizzed cos I didn't make it into MENSA. From that point on I must have been like fk trying! Yep, I wrote my life's script early on.I also feel like ive broken yet another promise to myself by straying off the juice only path. im just all out of sorts today...note to self, never go to walmart when you are feeling out of sorts! People and kids will pizz you off even more!

So i guess I'll get back to my juicing after i finish my 3 cans of leftover binge beans, and cereal, and soy milk.

*note: i had some lol's and lolzzz's scattered throughout but i took them out cos im pizzed, so feel free to insert them at your own discretion for comic relief. lol oh I mean no lol!

OH I forgot, what i was going to say too was that I found out that (or what I really think happened was) my body tricked me into a carb binge! I just didn't recognize it as such since my pre raw definition of a binge meant cake, cookies, cinnamon buns etc! I just had that revelation as I was eating my cereal that one morning (I have since thrown away the cereal and soy milk and plan to give the rest of the canned beans away to our food drive) and it was like these "happy feelings" were getting tripped in my brain and I recognized that feeling as one I used to get when I would indulge on junk! and this was supposed to be the healthy carb cereal it was 2 for $7.00 and everything! (expensive lol). It was so funny, as I was having that revelation I felt like Detective Kujan at the end of " Usual Suspects" when he just realized he had been talking to Keyser Soze the whole time lolzz. I had been had by my own body!

So I got on the scale today and although I am (now) more concerned about my blood sugar I am happy that when I started 3/31 I was 254 and today 4/23 I'm 236.4 and my doctor did say when I was 254 that if I lost about 50lbs I could possibly put my diabetes in remission so even though my weight loss is creeping now, I know that all I have to do is hang in there.

Thanks again everybody!

Kim- thank you and Im glad I wrote this and got everyone's input cos Im back on track and I can reference this when I'm feeling unsure again!

Suvine- Yes Ma'am!! :)

RawTastic- the funny thing is that I did add cinnamon to it and it threw the taste off so I threw it away and opened another can. I think my body isn't ready for beans right now so Ive gone back to the basics, Thank you for the heads up on the high fiber foods! I only knew flax was good for fat I didnt think about its fiber properties. U really are Rawtastic! :)

Dan- supposedly the good carbs are the complex carbohydrates but I don't think they are very good for me-at this time anyway, and actually I didn't heat the beans at all, I just poured them from the can and ate them I threw my heating thing- a- majig away (thanks again Bettina lol) and yes Ive heard cooking raises glycemic indexes of food.

Menaka- yes I have "Green For Life" I didn't know she had experience with dealing with diabetes so I'm gonna check her out on that subject, thanks for the heads up. I don't know if its just me but I didn't think her book Green for life was very information dense, its like she talked about basic things then all thru pages 113- 158 were all testimonials... I ordered it online so i didn't know before hand but since I have it I guess it wouldn't hurt to rake thru the pages again...thanks for the heads up on her link!

Golden- LOVE the picture and thank you!

This:... " beans that are cooked (and i think canned ones are) are absorbed as carbs/starch, but uncooked soaked beans are protein....

I had NOT heard before, thank you for that! and I believe it because of the goo that comes along with the canned beans-in retrospect its gotta be carb filled goo which makes for carb filled beans. The thing is I stood in the store and weighed buying canned vs. bagged and I decided on canned since I threw my heating thingy away, but that is good to know for in the future! Yep I also have the Raw Food Detox diet book, I think I need to revisit some of my books :) Thanks for the encouragement and philosophy !! Its true I am learning more about me and what works for me. it wasnt too long ago that I felt helpless and powerless when it came to my health but Im getting there by golly!

Rawgini- Noooo I haven't heard of that book! Thanks for the heads up! and encouragement and Im going to check RJ out:)

Jody- you are so right I like to think Im this chill laid back type but in all actuality Im just a spaz waiting to happen lol I mean I already decided to either get there or die trying so all thats left is for me to chillax!
thanks!

WhoRaw- lolzz im glad my melt downs are entertaining :)

...."Hang in there and don't be too hard on yourself, enjoy the journey....

GREAT ADVICE! and Im am currently working on that as well! thank you for the support!!

Yeah I could have done a better job at talking about the raw way to treat diabetes considering I spent several months at the Tree Of Life in Patagonia where they can cure most cases of diabetes in 30 days with their diet.

But like I said you've got to start somewhere. A big part of it is imagination believe it or not.

For instance you can soak and rinse mung beans for a couple of days for nice mini-sprouts. They could be a new kind of baked bean for you if you blend sundried tomatoes, stevia, and cinnamon as a sauce and pour it over them.

. But you've really got to focus and think these are healing baked beans, these are better, thank you for THESE baked beans- etc. Then you WILL like them better and your old cravings will be gone. You can also make a cream sauce with macadamias, basil and garlic and red pepper and make a cheese sauce and put that over the mung beans if you are craving mac and cheese. If you buy dried whole shitaki mushrooms and rehydrate them- they have a really great texdture to me- better than fresh. They can help rebuild your pancreas\immune system. You can soak them in nama shoyu, braggs, garlic and some oil to make them super yummy. They are great over zuchini fettucini with the cream sauce!

But be prepared to have to eat it a few times before you really love it. It's like rewiring your brain.

There are a lot of tricks you can do to stay on the path and that is what we are all here for- to help each other celebrate the good days and deal with the bad.

it's ok. be better tomorrow, that is all we can ever do. i have heard that beans that are cooked (and i think canned ones are) are absorbed as carbs/starch, but uncooked soaked beans are protein. and either way you get fiber. hmmmm. still with the downs i am glad that you are learning more about yourself and your body cause you can't become a butterfly without spending time as a squashy mess in a cocoon! keep with your juicing as much as possible. have your read The Raw Food Detox Diet. I think you should. It is insightful and interesting and i think you would get a lot from it. Borrow it from the library if you can, totally worth it. Keep up with your pilates baby!

i just went to a lecture by valerie Boutenko who has experience in eating raw and curing diabetics, namely her son, i second the GREEN SMOOTHIES< fiber and clorophyll, i'm no expert but i feel the Boutenko family is, i recomend their books, experience and research,, they also have a website http://rawfamily.com,
i love your sense of humor!for further comic relief, i couldn't help laugh along with my kids when during the Boutenko Green Smoothie Revolution lecture Valerie told us that she used to check her friends blood sugars for fun whent hey came over to compare her raw diet blood sugar and cured diabetic bro, with her cereal eating 'health food' junk food friends, it was soo super funny, to see kids having so much fun with blood sugar, i've become a green smoothie freak now and i highly reccomend them, totally cures my cravings and fills you with energy and fiber! But be sure to rotate your greens, like spinach one day, kale another, dandelion the next, then some chard, that way you don't over do one green ... there is a reason behind that because you may over load on some of the miniscule toxins in them, but it's also more fun! I'm readin Green For life right now and it's got a bunch of wicked recipes ....

Add cinnamon to the beans to help control blood sugar. Also add cinnamon to anything else you can stand. Blueberries are high in fiber and so are pears. Flax is super high in fiber so flax crackers are great to eat. They also have anti-inflammatory omegas in them.

I hope this helps!
