Give it to me Raw

My all time favorite smoothie is like drinking a thick tasty cream - even my dad loves it :)
You won't even get bored with it, it's been my favorite for almost two years now.

250 ml / 1 cup almond milk
1/2 frozen mango
1 T flax meal
1 T Lecithin
4 pieces of raw almonds

Into the blender for 1,5-2 min - depending on your blender, mine is a regular 750 Philips.
Just be sure to blend it until it is really creamy, if you don't blend it enough it isn't that good.

You should try this asap, you're gonna love it :)

You just reminded me that I used to put a dash of Agave in there- probably wouldn't bother these days though

I never use ice- I prefer everything at room temperature

Asta- if you bought it recently in the UK, it is made from GM soy. The GMO negative label means they have lab tested the lecithin and it contains no particles which are affected by the genetic engineering. The lecithin is extracted from the GM soy plant. The label is very misleading that is why I called them to check it out- I had a long chat with the technical manager and she said the packaging might change soon as the current packaging is misleading (she said the company had recently changed it's management)

Hi Asta and Hayley- Do you normally put a cup of ice in your smoothies? Also, when you said add 4 almonds were they pre-soaked Asta? Is the almond milk you use sweetened?

I've heard you can still get raw almonds from this company.

It helps in the breakdown of fat, on the box it says: As a very efficient emulsifier of fats, lecithin is an important supplement for those following a low cholesterol diet. Lecithin complex is an actevely rich source of phosphatidyl choline, an important nutrient in the control of dietary fats...
Hope that helps Krose :)

I've seen local raw almonds at Kimberton whole foods in PA (it's a local shop, not affiliated with Whole foods markets) They are labeled raw unpastured almonds

My Optima box is labeled "GMO negative"... I hope that is true.

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
