Give it to me Raw

It's day five of 811 and I'm feeling great! However, I've been met with some resistance coming from friends and family who think that I've become way too extreme. This makes me sad because I'm super happy with my decision to go raw.

Today my parents responded with alarm when they saw me about to blend up three ripe bananas into a smoothie. They said that much banana couldn't be good for my health. Then when I told them I had had three bananas for lunch earlier today, they became even more alarmed. My mom told me that I'm overloading on potassium and that's never good (according to her). My dad went on to tell me that his brother got really sick when he ate too many mangos one day as a child. I'm feeling a bit confused because I don't know how to respond to their concerns other than that I know what I'm doing. My goal is greater health, but according to them, I'm probably going to get sick from all that fruit.

my sister ate too many bananas when she was little and poohed out raw banana undigesed...

they were probably really starchy bananas... eat them with lots of black spots... they're sugary then. much easier and better for you digestively and energetically.

but bananas don't have a high water content. what other fruits in your area have a higher water content than bananas?

ha I saw my pre-raw ex-girl the other day, I had just polished off 15 bananas, surrounded by the skins...mortified.

If I'm right the type of potassium in bananas and other natural foods is non toxic. Where as in pill form it can be toxic if you take too much. I think it has something to do with the type of potassium. That is the best terms I can come up with right now but I think it gets the message across.

yum i love banannas. I eat between 6-14 a day - its all relative. I have heard of people turning orange from eating too many carrots!! bananna poisoning??/ I think your body would be able to recognise if its doing you more harm than good. I know I can only have 1 or 2 mangoes, otherwise I get this weird cramping in my chest! so, uno, I don't force the situation... i hold back and eat less.

Trust your self.
Alternatively get a blood test, and see what your levels are like??'normal
I am fairly consistent and eat 80-10-10, my blood tests showed me to be above "normal" in everything except my B12. Dr Doug Graham speaks about how to combat this by keeping a healthy intestinal flora in your gut... eat some dirt etc... I just get shots every 6 months as its easy.

Following the laws of natural hygiene, also make for a logical argument when eating foods. Imagine you are out in nature, living off the land, you walk up to a tree it is full off almonds...you stand underneath it, and eatprobably a handful or so, as you would quickly get full. Almonds in the markets are sooo different, and its easy to eat more than a handful for sure!!! Then you walk to a bananna tree, and eat till you are satisfied... this wouldnt be a whole heap, but a few, maybe a bunch if you were hungry!!

The problem with juicing, however you are blending i know, but when you are juicing, you arent eating the fibre and enjoying the other nutritional benefits of eating the whole food, as a consequence, it is much easier to eat a whole lot more, but this is dangerous and misleading, and you will end up getting a disproportionate intake of sugars which can upset your guts.

Read Fred P or doug grahams stuff, they will be able to explain it better!

Trust your self, learn to listen to your body and how it reacts to the foods you ingest, the combinations etc...

I get the same sort of responses Paulina...I guess i'm just trying not to react before something comes out of my mouth that is energetically weird and creates a point by point discussion of the matter. I need the faith of my convictions and that speaks louder than words. Hard though in the begining...isn't it weird how threatening the topic of nutrition can be?

I gave my dad a box of chocolates about 25 years ago. Inside the box was a Norman Walker book on juicing. My dad had prostate cancer at the time and was planning surgery. He began juicing and growing wheat grass. He never had prostate surgery and now he is now 81 years old and the prostate cancer is finally catching up with him. In short, my Dad went "Bananas" decades ago and reaped a great health benefit.

Its nice that I have influence over my parents thinking, but not control over it and visa versa. I didn't ask their opinion about my running in the Boston Marathon. They can share their comments about anything in my life, but ultimately, we each have the joy of shaping our life through the choices we make. But if we need someone else's approval, they control a part of our thinking.

Its nice when my parents approve of my decisions. But its not necessary!
