Give it to me Raw

I have a tupper box the size of my head here on my desk.
Full to the lid with organic persimmons that I scored by surprise for $1.29/lbs.
Peeled and cut (I don't like the peel somehow).
Facing the destiny of wandering into my stomach one by one by one.
Crunchy, sweet, orange-y goodness!

Made a large smoothie for the man this morning but what do you know - he tripped on his way out of the door and the orange goo ended up splashed over the wall and carpet. That was probably the only moment ever I thought bad about persimmons. Otherwise I'm all over them!

Yes. I actually have a whole other bowl of them. I eat a LOT of them when they are in season. I can't get enough of them. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and eat two or three....shameful ;-)

Hachiya persimmons are acorn shaped and are ripe when they resemble a delicate water ballon and they are indeed a glob of the tastiest jelly in the world. I don't ever lie, its worth the wait. If you gobble to soon, the tannins in the fruit will taste like soap in your mouth, so impatience is not rewarded with these jokers.

Fuyu persimmon are shaped like a flat pumpkin or tomato and are delicious when fairly soft. They can be eaten crunchy and still taste pretty good, but become delicious when properly ripened.

Probably my favorite fruit next to Durian. I have about 50 of them waiting to ripen right now...

TBH I wouldn't make a pledge on the statement whether or not thee guys are really organic. I go to a grocery store that is more an Asian wet market at times than anything else. They had them in a huge box with a sign "organic persimmons" next to the regular persimmons.
But these guys looked sooo much better than the other ones so I bought them. But yeah no clue where they're from heh.
Nope I like the firm ones. The hachiya type freaks me out. I get about 1-2 per year just to confirm that they're not my type of guy.

I favor organic apples on sale anywhere, especially Whole Foods, when they're 99cents/lb (culture shock).

Keep it simple! GINGER! You can make a tea with grated fresh ginger and just pour some hot water over.
