Give it to me Raw

So... I seem to have the flu (fever, check, chills, check, achy, check :( ).

I've been 100% raw since January, so I don't really want to fall back on my previous solution to this problem (lots and lots of chicken soup).

What suggestions do folks have for things to eat raw that make you feel better when you have the flu? I'm finding cold raw foods very off putting given that I'm having chills from fever :(

"Flu" is one of the body's way to get rid of toxins, stored or recently introduced into the body. In that sense "flu" is not a disease but a release (of toxic waste) and hence a so called constructive disease, an attempt to eliminate these toxins from the body as part of restoring normal effiency. any measures (except rest&sleep and h2o when thirst demands) taken that makes the symptoms (here "flu") stop, also prevents this elimination from running its course to some degree. Meaning these toxins will remain inside your body.

The best thing to do with the flu is to get as much rest and sleep as possible and eat as lightly as possible. Better yet would be to fast on only water, and spend all day in bed.

While Hagbard I don’t usually chime in on these topics. Sometimes when you are raw and you get sick you think you did something wrong and it always seems to be the last thing you ate or didn’t eat. There are so many variable within your body and out that make you sick. Did you know that RAW people still get cancer ? Dunt dunt dah!!! You just have the flu, stay at home watch funny movies and do what you “know is best”. That being said.... Pomegranates and hemp milk does something to me that always wards of flu symptoms. Cut Pomegranate in half, squeeze and scrape out seeds + ½ cup H20 and run on your Vitamix for 20 secs. Strain out the pulp and but back in vitamix. Add as much hemp as you want, run through vitamix again and place in H20 bottle. Sip during the day and who knows you might feel great/

Ginger always makes me feel better when I'm sick :) So I say load up on the carrot/orange/ginger juice :P It's cold but it makes you feel warm. Also, if you have a dehydrator... Sometimes it helps to make a warm veggie marinade, I do mushroom/broccoli/courgette soaked in some sauce, popped in the dehydrator for a few hours in a bowl at 115 or so and drain.

What's really nice is just juice lots of vegetables and spice it up, that's what I call a soup!

I had the same signs of the "flu" while vacationing. I had very limited resources so I bought a few oranges and fruit cups from the food kiosks (we were at Disney). I resolved to rest as soon as I could so as soon as we finished site-seeing that night I rested in bed for the next night, day and night. By the morning I'd felt much better and knew it would be good for me to get some fresh air anyways. After about an hour of being out, I felt better than I had before I got "sick!" All I ate/drank was the fresh fruit and water. You can do it!!! I know that's not warm food but along the lines of what Christa said...here's an idea...juice carrots, celery and maybe a small bit of onion and warm it up over the stove just enough to take the chill out then add the same spices you would use for the chicken soup! I occasionally add rice stick noodles or you could add strips of kelp!

I'd kind of like to actually stay raw... to be honest I'm sort of afraid of going back to the way I was eating cooked (I've lost 155lbs since going raw in January, and other than this current flu, I've felt *amazing*).

hot herb tea perhaps? and if you don't want chicken soup, veggie broth is a nice vegan alternative. I used to heat up vegetable broth and add cayenne pepper and raw garlic.
