Interesting. I'm not so familiar with the use of formaldehyde to preserve fruits. That's incredibly disgusting.

I wouldn't think so, but coconuts that come from outside the US have to be treated with numerous chemicals such as formaldehyde to keep from spoiling; as well as other chemicals for bugs that happen to make there way in the shipping vessels.

Do people ever use pesticides on coconuts? What kind of bug are they trying to kill?
