Give it to me Raw

Raw foods have been a part of my daily diet for years now, ever since I tried to go 100% several years ago. I went from a semi-crappy diet to 100% raw overnight, which was probably not the best plan for me. I had terrible detox symptoms, along with a huge surge of energy that made it difficult to sleep at night! It was not a very pleasant experience.

I managed, all this time, to keep up some of the things I learned during that failed attempt. Green smoothies, sprouting, dehydrating, raw oils and raw nuts are all normal things for me now, and when I do eat cooked foods I usually make the healthiest choices possible. My huge problem is sugar - I am so addicted to it! It's silly that I spend my entire day healthy, only to binge on cake on chocolate at nighttime. After several years of this, I feel like I'm ready to try a higher percentage of raw foods again, and I am mostly looking forward to 100% raw desserts!

I'm a big believer in not wasting food, so my transition will consist of many raw foods, and cooked foods that I already have in my house and need to use up. For instance, this morning I had a big bowl of sprouted, dehydrated buckwheat with flax meal and agave, but I used soy milk that I had around the house on top of it. I'm sipping on a green smoothie as I write this, but for lunch I'm going to have the rest of a wonderful roasted vegetable salad that I made the other day that I don't want to go to waste. I'm hoping that this practical behavior will actually help to make my transition easier. I think I might have to toss the chocolate pudding that is sitting in my fridge though - sugar bad!

I'm really delighted to find this community. I don't think anything like this existed when I first found raw foods. Looking forward to finding support and inspiration here.

Yea for you!!!!! Sound like you have a great plan. I just got this pamphlet on detoxing from my local tea shop and it has some great tips for quelling that night time urge for sugar (you're not the only one). It suggest that instead of feeding your body you focus your attention to other parts of yourself. Take a bath in epsom salts after dry brushing your body (not only a great way to assist in detoxing but also a great way to prepare your body for rest). Give yourself a cucumber facial (slice cucumber and place them on your face, then lay a hot towel over that and you'll hydrate your skin with lovely refreshing antioxidants). Dance alone at night! (this is my favorite, turn on some awesome music and rock out. It really makes you tired and is a great and enjoyable way to burn calories and feed your soul). Of course, there's always dark chocolate too! Anyway hope this helps! LOVE and light!

Ani Phyo would be good, given your ingredients. I like Ani Phyo's Raw Kitchen. Her stuff is very sweet and heavy, though, IMHO.
