Give it to me Raw

Why is it that whenever I reveal I am a raw vegan (which is not often) people criticize it as being some "hippy shit." Why do hippies have such a bad name? and what the hell is the definition of a hippy anyway? And why is being healthy and environmentally conscious labeled as being "hippy shit"?

Nobody told me that yet. But if that would happen, I would ask that person how s/he defines a hippy. That will reveal if s/he is interested in a serious conversation. If not I would end the conversation and think for myself: "Well, whatever is in his/brain comes out of the mouth again. Shit in, shit out!!" May be later they will ask or tell me: "How have you lost all that weight?" "Where does you energy come from?" "Oh, your skin improved a lot!!" And then I hope they are in the right mindset to accept my explanation.

well i have never paid much attention to labels or to any of the ignorant criticism those poor SAD contaminated beings have to offer... it's just the hippy shit thing really amuses me.... No one should be offended by hippy shit, unless it really stinks!

Man, I've been experiencing a lot of that lately. When I tried to tell my friends that Raw can practically cure diabetes, such as in the movie Simply Raw, most of them attacked me and even eating Raw food. It really hurt my feelings at first, but you know, it really doesn't matter. I'm doing what makes me feel good and what I believe is the best lifestyle for me. They may never understand that and I know I can't make them. I can only encourage those who are interested and who are willing to learn and try things different.

I've never heard "hippy shit" where I live. And I don't know why hippies have such a bad name, I suspect it's just those that are not like Hipp that that don't.

lol, this is funny. What we don't know, we fear. Labeling is an easier escape then allowance and being open, because then..mmm, we might just have to change.. and we wouldn't want that now would we. ;)

Whenever you do something different people feel like they're being judged by you. The truth is that all judgment sources in self judgment. Don't worry about others judging you, like the part of an iceberg you don't see (self judgment), their self judgment is 10 times greater.

"Dirty Hippie", translation... your choice in lifestyle threatens my selfish existence. If I insensitively label you I lessen that threat. Narrow minds like to box things up, wrap them and label them for their own personal comfort. Just keep "being" and don't worry about what they're "doing". One day they'll get it or get whatever they've been dishing out. Besides this online community of "dirty hippies" is packed full of the hippest, hottest most vibrant conscious peeps. Let's do a Woodstock sequel!

I don't think this exists for humans yet, unfortunately - but what I think would be the healthiest mattress (and virtually free of dust-mites, even bed-bugs which inflict some homes recently) for humans would be the same as the healthiest for pets...
