Give it to me Raw

100 % Raw. Day 8. How to keep the weight ?

I've done it , 8 day fully raw and i feel good :)
It's been very up and down so far, days of feeling very low and weak, but then followed with periods of highs which are better than before i felt low, if that makes sense...

The weekend was quite hard as i was hanging out with my girlfriend and some friends so was surrounded by lots of cooked food and alcohol, i did feel low over the weekend and very tired and dizzy , i listened to my body though and rested most of sunday. My energy today has been brilliant, constant, no lows this afternoon at work, which is a first.

My one worry is that i don't want to loose any weight, if anything i would like to put a little on. I run so i want to try and keep my muscle mass and not get too thin. I weigh.. actually i never weight myself ,but i guess about 8stone and i'm 5ft 3in.

I've been eating alot of nuts and high fats, i know this isn't ideal but i feel it's right for me until my body settles to just raw. I made some raw brownies today, they were yummy. I'd like to try the raw nachos next.

Can anyone advise how best to keep the weight on whilst 100% raw ? Would hemp protein work ? I have a 10k run on Monday, so i need to prepare for that, since i haven't run since i went 100% raw as of detox symptoms.

All in all, I love Raw, i feel happier in between the detox stages .

Thanks everyone :) I seem to always crave fruit, i could drink smoothies all day i know that. But then i crave the fats, but is that because of lack of calories before... I will eat more fruit for the next week and see if it helps.
Day 9, feeling fine !! x

80-10-10 is good especially if I am very active. But if I'm sitting around the house, I feel all that fruit sugar is rotting my innards and my brain. If I eat that much fruit, I need to stay moving. There are times when less fruit sugar is appropriate. If I try to adhere to one theory or plan, that's when I fail.

The first two times I tried 100% raw I failed miserably, and went back to a cooked diet. Now I realize the reason for failures: not getting enough calories, in other words, undereating.
Finally, this time I've been successful for four months now, and feel great. The secret for me has been following Dr. Graham's 80/10/10 approach. Having the great majority of calories from fresh, tasty sweet fruit has finally resulted in success.
The body needs fuel to burn, and the most efficient way to provide that fuel is from fruit. And if you keep the fat intake down to a minimum, along with sufficient greens and non-sweet fruits like tomatoes, then you are giving the body what it needs in the cleanest and healthiest way.

I think it's best for me not to think of my weight as a criterion for my success. I get a bit lighter while raw but feel great most of the time. When I'm more athletic I get a bit heavier. I really believe that being light is a key to longevity and health. Hemp is probably a good choice. Sometimes I eat more fats, sometimes I do well for a few days on low fat. Sometimes I eat just grapefruit for a day. But regardless being raw at first is a long experiment. Just work with the ups/downs. Eat raw vegan, work out, sleep a lot. The human body is incredibly tough and adaptive. I believe everything we need is in the gorgeous plant world. Eat what seems right...don't get caught up in gurus. I feel that people who superimpose theories and pseudo-science onto raw vegetable living do us a disservice. It's very personal. Just remember your mind is stronger than the little energetic subtleties of the foods that you eat. Focus on the mind, stay raw vegan whenever you can....your weight will eventually settle in a nice spot. And be free of the theorists and gurus!!! good luck!!

I can relate to the up and down-ness of early 100%...it surprised me actually, since i'd been transitioning in for a couple of years and had been 90% or closer the last year of it...but i think i began this type of emotional detox upon 100% that i hadn't gotten close to previously and it was all around becoming cognizant of how i lived with and spent my own energy in my day to day life. a huge eye-opener!!...8^))...and i had jags of being near exhausted at the end of the day. but i always knew, or felt anyway, that it was a totally necessary thing. very organic...

and yeah, the healthy fats will keep weight on...but it's my feeling that our bodies go through this detox and rebuilding that's beyond what we think about how we're built...there are cellular structures that just begin reorganizing in ways they know how but we can't intellectually conceive of yet from the place we stand...so it might be that you lose some weight that you don't think you have it to lose...but it will be rebuilt more as muscular tissue since it sounds like you're active and athletic with things.

all best Sarah Hook!
