As I was riding my bike today, words came to my mind and out as a song.
"Drink Water by the River.
Eat Fruit by It's Tree.
Nothing is Greater
than the Spirit in Me."
At the time, I was stopping in the park alongside the river to sit on my favorite r…

I've been starting my day with this:

It's usually a mix of kale, spinach, arugula, chard, celery, apple, spirulina, agave and kiwi or peach.
It's a great way to get my greens in the morning.
Then my lunch has been this:

I am currently eating lunch.
My salad is kale, arugula, chard, spinach and cilantro for the green part.
It also includes celery, red onion, daikon, radish sprouts, carrots, tomatoes, garlic and dulse flakes.
I think the cilantro is what makes this salad so awesome!
I did spray a little liquid aminos on the salad. Eventually, I hope to use no aminos and hope to tolerate the flavor of the vegetables without it. Kale is just so bitter and my taste buds need to adjust. I'm thinking I could soak n…

It's been forever since I've updated this. I've been so busy living!
I'm not going strict on my raw foods diet, but I'm doing it mostly. I'm done with the fancy recipes. All I want to eat is fruit. Mangoes and me are good friends. :) Mangoes, peaches, strawberries, plums, apricots, kiwis, apples, blueberries....mmmm.. I like to cut them all up and squirt a little agave and some water on them. The juice at the end is the best part!
What have I been doing? I went to Wakarusa Camping and Music fest…

Well, it's not even June yet. I'm getting ahead of myself!
That is the name I gave my favorite smoothie!
1 mango
4 large strawberries
1 peach
1 handful of mint
ice
Mmmm...the mint of christmastime. The fruits of summer.
In other news, I have ALOT of bell pepper baby plants. I'm trying to give them away, but no one wants them I guess.
I also have a roma tomato plant and mint planted. All I've been doing since school got out is riding my…

The most exciting thing I will have to say that has happened so far is that my husband enjoyed a 100% vegan meal and felt good about it! He has said before that he wouldn't quit eating meat because he's afraid of feeling hungry or not getting enough protein. For dinner, he had brown rice, veggies and tofu. He's had tofu before. He fried it with eggs and turkey slices. He's a healthy eater, he just enjoys meat as well. Actually, he hates brown rice, but he has ate it twice today. He's a white-ric…

I was thinking the other day that my fruit -to-vegetable balance is a
little off. Well, not even. I don't really know what an "appropriate"
fruit-to-vegetable combination. I guess whatever works for me is what
is appropriate. I have been only eating 1-2 apples a day and some
berries almost every day. So, I decided to reintroduced dried fruits
into my diet. I haven't had it for awhile. Well, dried apricots
especially. I had some currants and about 7 dried apricots. Wow, did I
notice the effects o…

Today is the beginning of my 8th day of eating 95-100% raw.
Yesterday, I finally made my red lentil soup. It was really good! I made it with 5 sun-dried tomato halves soaked, 1/2 fresh tomato, 1/4 carrot, 1 celery stalk, 1/2 red bell pepper, 1 clove garlic, 1/8 onion. I blended that first then I added my sprouted red lentils (it was about 1 cup). I used the juice of about 1/4 lemon and lots of spices for flavor (frontier brands is what my co-op has in bulk. taco seasoning, cumin, papri

This is my first raw weekend.
I finally got to make my hummus! It tastes awesome. I've read some raw
food recipes and many people say they don't like the taste of raw
chickpeas and they normal replace them with something else. Why on
earth would you? I didn't even know hummus was cooked anyways? It seems
to me, this is the way it was supposed to be. Sprouted, living
chickpeas are great.
I think I used about 1 1/2-2 cups of sprouted chickpeas, 2 Tbsp of raw
tahini, 1/2 a lemon's j…

I'm on my sixth day of eating living foods. I made the BEST smoothie in the world this morning. Adding grass to my smoothie was the greatest thought, ever! :) I was skeptical about combining fruits with veggies at first. I used 1 apple, some raspberries (maybe 7 or 8), 1/2 mango, 1 handful spinach, 2 medium lacinato kale leaves. Also, I added 1 Tbsp. Pines Greens (tm) and some pieces of crystallized ginger and mixed it with my almond/pumpkin seed milk. I know the Pines Green po

Today is the start of my 5th day raw. I haven't been doing 100% raw, it's been more like 95%. Yesterday, I ate some sauerkraut that was heated at around 175 degrees while processed. I could have done without it, but I bought this jar before I decided to go raw and there is no sense of wasting food. Also, I realized the nori rolls I bought have been toasted but I don't know to what degree. The package says "low temperature" so I guess it's not TOO bad, still not raw though. One other thing I have…

Is it really day four? Wow!
I'm making food I've never thought of making until I've turned raw. I made nori rolls! I'm so excited to eat these. They will fill me up, I'm sure, because I will have my protein/fat at lunch. I will not have to make any mad dashes back home. :-)
As a cooked-vegan, I've has sushi before. I've even made miso soup. I have a feeling these will be the best sea vegetable roll up I've ever had! One, because I made it. Two, because it's alive!
For…

Now, I'm on day 3. The past couple days, I've been eating a nut pate
with lunch and dinner. Today, I decided to be adventurous and try a raw
spaghetti sauce recipe with a salad. Big mistake! My body NEEDED that
protein and fat for lunch. By time 4 PM rolled around, I was SO anxious to hop
on my bike and race home to some almonds.
I wanted some kind of peanut butter and celery so I opted for the next
best thing. Well, I MADE it an option. I never had it before, so I just
mixed somethin…

Before making the decision to become raw, I had adopted the following list of foods. Now that I have been eating these foods for long, I'm a little leary when it comes to eating from the lists that are said to be avoided. I do occasionally eat mangoes, kiwi and strawberries, I just combine them with bitter or astringent fruits. I really don't care for avocado either, but I made taste a little when I make guacomole for my husband (he loves the stuff!).
As far as vegetables go, I gave up on cu…

I'm excited about all the wonderful foods I can create. Although I do not have one of those fancy spaghetti spiralers, I still am interested in some kind of raw spaghetti.
I made a spaghetti sauce from blended sun-dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, red onion, green bell pepper, mushrooms, garlic with some spices (I think it was fennel, cilantro, paprika and cayenne). I like my food spicy.
According to Ayurveda, spices are good for digestion and sinuses. For some reason, my nose a…

I've been a cooked vegan for sometime now (not sure how long), but I've been vegetarian on and off throughout my life beginning at age 8.
Over the last 3 years, I've been learning alot about what my body needs in terms of food, exercise, sleep, relaxation. I feel that I have found a good balance. The trick is staying on that plan.
I made my first batch of almond milk, sprouted quinoa and sprouted red lentils to prepare for living a higher percentage raw foods lifestyle.
