Caffeine has always given me urgency/frequency. I have avoided it (not necessarily for that reason) but since I've started drinking a big green juice every morning I've noticed that same feeling- almost painful need to pee. Why is this happening! I hope it goes away soon.

Oh no! I just found out tonight I am SEVERELY allergic to buckwheat groats... I had some buckwheat groat cereal recently that gave me an itchy mouth/throat, but it had pecans in it so I thought it was that (I have a mild nut allergy, too). Then I tried another buckwheat cereal that contained no nuts, and it happened again, only worse this time- difficult airway, tingling gums, etc. I thought maybe it was the date sugar in that one... until tonight. My super friend Cyndi made me some dehydrated g…

Do you guys just heat it in a pot on the stove, making sure it doesn't get above 115? A double boiler? The microwave? Mine is SUPER solid & I can barely get a spoon in there to scoop it out. I don't have the option of setting it in the sun right now.

"Are you trying to lose weight? I know how you can lose a lot really fast. Have you ever tried the Atkins diet? That's what I'm doing. All I've eaten for 10 days is meat, cheese, and dairy & I've already lost 9 lbs!"
Actual lunchtime conversation... I had no idea what to say. I mentioned vegetables, colon health.
"Oh, I've been eating celery sticks. You know, low carb stuff."
*blink blink*
I took a bite of my lacinato kale salad with meyer lemon marinade instead of saying anything.

LOL I'm doing so poorly this week- it's been really stressful and I'm not at my own house for a little while due to an unfortunate accident wherein I have to buy a new bed : /
I FINALLY brought my juicer here this afternoon & am going to have a nice green juice for dinner but I was just wondering if y'all have any words of wisdom when the road gets rough. The last thing on earth I want is to backslide too badly because I've really enjoyed my weight loss, extra energy, and improved skin qual…

Is anyone on here on Tumblr? My raw food one is littlepinkhouses.tumblr.com.
I've had a seriously bad past week, food wise. Trying to get back on track today- on my way to the market for young coconuts. I feel lucky to live near FOUR asian supermarkets.

I am getting kind of confused reading raw recipes. When something says "sprouted" do you have to wait for a little tail? Soaked I understand, but what about recipes that don't say either? Matt Amsden's book, for example, doesn't really specify either way- do I just throw the items in there w/o soaking/sprouting? Halp!

I wonder if dehydrated food is bad for your teeth... it sure gets stuck in there pretty badly. Bleh. I try not to eat too much dried stuff, but I am going to make Matt Amsden's famous onion bread this week. It looks divine. I love onions.

I had anemia up until I was about 20 (which, incidentally, is also when I started eating more meat & put on a lot of weight).
My anemia has returned & I'm weak & covered in mystery bruises...
I'm going to try to eat some more spinach (I don't like the way it makes my teeth feel when it's raw, how weird is that lol) with orange juice for extra absorption, and I'm going to make some lentil soup. I wasn't planning on having that much cooked food in my life but you gotta do what you go…

I just making a list of veggies to cut up to make a "salad bar" in my fridge for quick salad making for lunches and remembered how much I liked deviled or just boiled eggs in my salad... any substitutions yall can think of? Maybe some crumbled nut cheese (I've never made it before but am willing to try!)?

What do yall do when someone offers you something (who doesn't know about the way you choose to eat, not drink, etc.) you don't want? Do you just politely say no thank you, or do you explain or go into it at all? This hasn't come up yet but I'm sure it will at some point.
I know how annoying everyone finds that girl who, every time she's offered a meat product, goes on & on about how she doesn't eat meat.

I get so sad when I see the ladies at lunch, complaining about weight loss, eating their "salads"... loaded with chicken, cheddar, croutons, iceberg lettuce, a cucumber (yay for that at least) and about a third of a cup of ranch dressing. And wondering why they aren't losing. "But I've only been eating salads!" LOL it's hard not to point out the flaws in their plan.
Weight today 247.5, down 3.7 lbs from last week.

you know one thing that’s really cool about being raw? not having to participate in the mad rush for the microwaves every day at noon at the office :)

My friend Cyndi & I discovered something amazing today- Roy's Natural Food Market! (This won't make much sense if you don't live in our area.) It's at the NE corner of Preston & Royal and is CHOCK FULL of amazing raw goodies- they have a whole dedicated raw aisle with Sunfood products, raw chocolate bars, local raw items, flax crackers, raw olives, etc. etc. They even have raw deli selections! We got a green juice and picked up a piece of raw apple pie for tomorrow.
It's great to know I…

Oh no! Yesterday I recieved some tough financial news. I was freaking out all afternoon trying to figure out how to make it work. I was also working late so when 4:30 rolled around I reached for the only snack that sounded good- peanut butter (just regular ole sugar & hydrogenated nonsense) & crackers. Then when I finally got home I munched on an apple, but my eyes couldn't stop flicking to that last bag of Cheetos. I don't know why I didn't throw them away. It probably has something to…

I'm so excited! My bestie bought us an Excalibur dehydrator to share, so I've spent all morning looking up raw cracker & bread recipes. One of the things I've really missed is crunchy stuff (not carrots lol) & dips & spreads on top. I found lots of yummy recipes, but I think the one I'm most excited about is Sundried Tomato Bread, and after that banana nut bread w/ avocado cream "cheese" from Angela Stokes-Monarch.
The only thing is that I can't have any today... sprouting, soaking,…

Has anyone else experienced loss of libido? I am only two weeks raw, but it's marked... I'll be ok if it's a detox/rebalancing thing, but I certainly hope it doesn't last.

Last night my bestie & I went to see Raw Transformations, a talk with Matt Monarch & Angela Stokes. It was really great and we got some tips and tricks that should prove useful. Angela is super excited about homesteading in Ecuador. My ambition in life is to be a midwife; maybe once I'm trained I could move to Ecuador and be the midwife for the families down there! I had previously felt like maybe I would never realize my goal, but since starting raw I feel more positive about it than ev…
