We had some unexpected guests over a few nights ago and decided to through together a quick dinner. I hadn't been shopping this week so the pickings were a bit slim but managed to throw together a salad that was quite surprising. It wasn't so much the salad part as it was the dressing. Everyone was raving over it including those non-raw, especially the dressing.
Salad:
Spinach
Fancy green beans cut into 1 inch pieces
grape tomatoes cut in half
Dressing:
Olive oil lightly drizzled on greens to…

Well I finally splurged and bought a dehydrator although it is not the one I originally wanted. While browsing the clearance isle of Sams Club I came across several Nesco 1020ies on sale for $45. Can't beat that price right so I decided it was worth it to try. At first I wasn't sold on it and actually went back over the course of a couple weeks debating if I should hold out for the Excalibur. I had come across one over the holidays at Academy (surprise surprise) for $80ish but just could not get…

Someone just posted this on the local mom forum I post on and I wanted to share.
It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... all before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners, you know...

I know it has been quite some time since I have updated. things have been pretty hectic over the last several months and it has been difficult to find extra time to check in everywhere I roam online.
Anyway, we finally got the opportunity to purchase a Vita-mix..hurray!! Dh had been giving me a hard time justifying spending so much for a blender. So rather than purchsing at the beginning of the year like i had planned on doing I didn't get to purchased one until this weekend thanks to Sams Club…

I haven't been around too much lately because I have been a busy little bee the past couple of months. We found a bee keeper about a half mile from here that sells raw honey. That was quite a find, we had seen the beekeeper sign for years but never stopped in. After visiting a local organic farm to purchase some fresh kale we found out that this keeper sold raw honey so we stopped on the way home. I have to say it is the darkest richest tasting honey I have ever had. I was so impressed by his se…

I am so excited. Today we went to a plant show that is being held over the weekend. All sorts of local farmers, nursery's and individuals were set up selling and showing their plants, trees and ornamentals. We purchased several vegetable plants (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, several herbs etc.) We were also given a black walnut tree by the Arbor Day society who had a booth set up. As well as the kid each got a little plant of their own by a friendly vendor. I can't tell…

I haven't been posting much lately mainly because my raw journey has taken a stand still. My husband was hurt at work several weeks ago and we are having to live off of workmans comp until he is released to go back to work. We have no idea when that will be but it seems right this moment that this may be quite awhile. He has 2 herniated disks in his lower back; one of which is pressing against his spinal cord. So the doctors are going to be doing some epidurals on him to inject steriods and p

Yum yum! I just made my very first batch of almond milk. I have to say I am quite impressed because I didn't think the recipe would have made as much as it did. I wish I would have had some dates to sweeten it a bit, I am out at the moment, so I substituted Agave nectar figuring we would drink it really fast anyway. Next time I want to try it with a couple dates though to give a richer flavor.
My only complaint is I need to find a cheaper source for cheese cloth or some sort of reusabl…

Well I went shopping last night for a few staples to get us buy till payday; a couple bags of spinach, zucchini, frozen strawberries, etc. I also hit the jackpot with 2 bags of mini babycarrots and beets with stems/green for $1 a piece. I wish I would had gone shopping sooner because they also had baby bokchoy and endive marked down as well but the bags that were left weren't in very good shape.
Anyway, today I have been slacking a bit and find myself eating more out of convenience whi…

I am running low on ingredients. I really need to get to the store and stock up so tonights dinner smoothie consisted of what I had left in the fridge.
2 heads of Romaine
1 tart apple
1 banana

teaspoon of flax
teaspoon of Agave nectar
water to achieve desired thickness
and 1 scoop of green powder
In addition, I am kind of upset. About a month ago I purchased a new blender and it stopped working on me already. I think I…

FAQ's about Unschooling:
1. What's so wrong with schools?
School has become a government funded babysitter graduating students who not only are not proficient in what they've been "taught" but have lost
their natural ability to think. This is not the fault of the students,
nor the teachers or administratiion. It is a fault of the institution
itself. Although school has become a pillar of our soc
