We know the holiday season can be busy, with lots of parties and gatherings. Most of these events serve up sugary, artificial, and/or unhealthy foods making it especially hard to stay with a raw or vegan diet.
So, come and celebrate the holidays with the local Raw and Vegan community!!

I love raisinettes. We always had them around our house growing up because my Mom loved them, too. Rob and I went on vacation with his family recently. I spent a week preparing raw meals to bring with us when Rob asked if I could whip up some raisinettes. “Raisinettes?” I…

Have you heard about bee pollen? I have, and since then I’ve been taking some almost every day. You might be thinking, as I did, ‘What exactly is bee pollen?’
Bees go from flower to flower all day in search of pollen to bring back to the hive. They are very selective creatures and research has shown that they will choose only the pollen that is richest in nutrients to ta…

Did you know that one cup of chopped kale contains 307% of your daily value (DV) of Vitamin A, 200% of your DV of
Vitamin C, and 13% of your DV of calcium? I had no idea what to do with kale before I switched from a standard American diet (SAD) to my new living and raw food diet. I’d always been afraid to try it, it was leafy, green, and frightening. Now, I make kale chips all the time and love…

For a long time I was on the fence about organic produce. Sure, I liked the idea of buying it, especially if it was grown locally, but I just couldn’t get over the cost. As my diet started changing and I started thinking more about what I was putting into my body, organically grown foods started…

For years now I have been on a mission to seek out and remove any and all sources of Monosodium Glutamate from my diet. As you likely already know, MSG is an excitotoxin that stimulates the nerves (often times to the point of damage) in order to make highly synthetic, processed, poor quality foods taste more palatable. It also stimulates the appetite so that you eat more than…

One of the things I’ve missed most since going predominately raw is pizza. There’s something about pizza that’s hard not to like. I have tried a number of raw pizzas in restaurants, and others from recipes, but none of them had the texture or taste to satisfy my cravings, so I set out to create the Ultimate Raw Pizza. Well friends, I believe I’ve accomplished my mission! Since…

A new vegan/vegetarian/raw foods restaurant called Butternut Squash opened in Chapel Hill, NC this week!
I'm excited that raw fooders in the area now have an option when they feel like a dinner out. :-)
There are three raw / living food options on the menu..

~ Almond and Apricot Bowl (tapas)
All sound tasty. :-) They are open from 7am to 9:30pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 9pm on Sunday.

I just returned this morning from Alissa Cohen's Raw Teacher certification, and what a journey it was! The training, if you aren't familiar, is a four day intensive training which encompasses Alissa's level one (chef), level two (instructor), and level three (teacher) trainings, along with a twelve hour in-depth chef training and certification at her restaurant Grezzo in Boston. I am in the works right now of setting up a Raw Life Consulting business (www.rawlifecoaching.com) coming soon!) with…
