Grape Kool Aid for raw foodies

A recipe I came up with this morning Blend in a vitamix, or juice if you prefer 2 cups black grapes (very dark variety like concord) 2 asian pears (or other pear or apple) 3 stalks celery 1 med. cucumber (I used a couple little Persian ones) 4 leaves of kale Blend blend blend. I often blend smoothies like this in a vita mix, then strain out the pulp with a nut mylk bag, then add half the pulp back, cause I like it that way. you can leave all the the pulp or none of the pulp, whatever your pre… Continue

Deer Antler Velvet Supplement - Something the Raw Community Should Not Stand For

Matt Monarch sells on his site Deer Antler Velvet Supplement. This has been mentioned on the site before, and someone said that it was not harvested off of live animals, but off of foraged deer antlers in the wild. I have done research on the topic, and the fact is is that deer antler velvet is harvested off of live deer, at deer farms in New Zealand. They drug the deer and remove the velvet from their antlers. These deers are being raised for slaughterer for their meat. I am aware that most if… Continue

New Raw Social Network geared toward Activism, Social Ecology, and the general "bigger picture"

Hi I just wanted to let everyone know about the social network I have started to bring both the activist community together with the raw community. There is so much about raw food that is political, so we need a safe place to discuss it. The website is vegan oriented but paleo types are free to join, just save the meat talk for other sites please and respect the wishes of our community. Come check us out, and be sure to add to the discussion what you want to talk about! RadicalRawVegans.Ning.co… Continue

Looking for Raw Travel Buddies - SE Asia- Mid January to Mid March

My sorta plan is to fly in to Bangkok, since you don't need a special visa, go straight to the Cambodia and Vietnamese embassies and apply for visas to these two places. I have been studying Vietnamese language for about a year, and I want to be in a situation where I have to apply it more. I know a bit of Thai, Khmer, and Burmese as well. I am planing on taking the bus from Thailand, through Siam Rep, to Angkor Wat, then through Phenom Pheh, then to Vietnam. I will most likely spend a full mont… Continue

Inspired by the Raw Models turning away from veganism: It is necessary to be vegan to be an animal liberationist?

Now I would just like to preface this with the fact that I am vegan, and will remain so till death, if I have my life my way, but this situation with the raw model has brought up some interesting debate. In my personal opinion, I do not think it matters for the goal of animal liberation if we are or are not vegan, if the animal substances we eat are wild hunted, and wild foraged, or freegan (dumpstered, post consumer, roadkill) I think that eating animals is both undesirable, icky and unhealthy,… Continue

Hey Michele! We fast 8-10 people per year for 6 weeks and most of them have amazing experiences. Incidentally, though some people imagine there's a need to "work up" to a long fast like this, many are fasting this long for the first time; in fact,...
