As I was busily clipping pictures and words for my 2010 vision board this morning, I came across an article in the November 2009 issue of New Zealand Women's Health. It stopped me dead in my clipping tracks.
On page 18 was an advertorial called Balancing Your Weight, with advice from nutritionist Nikki Hart. The subhead? "Nikki explains… Continue
Hello!
I thought it would be apt to indulge myself in a blog post here, I havn't done it in a while and it's always sweet to post something and communicate with fellow health pioneers.
Anyways, right now I'm working with a challenging issue and would love some feedback/input about how to focus so I can achieve more BALANCE, particularly with my eating habits. I still live with my parents and siblings... my birth family, and the biggest challenge is probably our differences in perspective around… Continue

Well it's my birthday, that day when many years ago my mum looked at me for the first time and said, oh it's an angel, a gift to humanity and so beautiful.
Well now that I got that out of my system, I have a question.
Seeing it's my birthday and I'm having pizza cravings, as well as gluten free chocolate cake cravingfs, what would be the wrath that the Raw Food Lords of Karma would inflict upon me if I was to find myself sitting somewhere with a large family sized pizza filled with oliv… Continue
This month we spotlight Tarragon as our Herb of the Month. Just the thought of this wonderful herb transports me back to our backyard in Budapest. Tarragon was one of the wonderful edibles that grew beautifully and abundantly in our yard, and I picked the fresh leaves often… Continue

I see that I posted on July 1 and now it's August 1. I am still 90-95% raw and I love it. I never dreamed I could feel so good that I don't even want any cooked food. I will never say, "Look at me: I'm all raw!" because I don't know what the future (especially the winter) holds. All I know is that right now, I'm ecstatic to be nourishing myself is such a lively fashion.
When I turned fifty, even though I was a vegan and exercised and did yoga and all the stuff I thought I was supposed to do, I… Continue
When you are sick - It's actually YOU getting better.
It is not germs attacking, or you getting worse.
However if you suppress this sickness - keep working, take drugs, eat food, take anything really other than air and water and rest, then you risk blocking the channels of elimination - the toxins, catarrh, white blood cells, whatever you want to call them - if BLOCKED. will lay down in your tissues, irritate, inflame, harden etc - waiting for the moment your vital energy rises and you heat up a… Continue
Science & Art of Natural Living and Natural Healing
INTRODUCTION
Nature Cure is the name given to the philosophy and practise of Natural Living and Natural Healing.
Its present-day origins can be traced back to Europe in the 1800’s when it was called ‘The Water Cure.’
We have good reason to be proud of Nature Cure because it is the only healing art, with which I am familiar, that has not changed its fundamental principles since the day it was discovered.
North American practitioners in… Continue

Monoculture encourages pests and diseases in fruit trees. Permaculture is the way of the future.
Modern permaculture is a system design tool. It is a way of:
looking at a whole system or problem;
observing how the parts relate;
planning to mend sick systems by applying ideas learnt from long-term sustainable working systems;
seeing connections between key parts.
Earthcare – recognising that Earth is the source of all life (and is possibly itself a living entity — see Gaia theory), that Earth… Continue

You'll be given love
you'll be taken care of
you'll be given love
you have to trust it
Maybe not from the sources
you have poured yours
Maybe not from the directions
you are staring at
Trust your head around
it's all around you
all is full of love
all around you
All is full of love : you just ain't receiving
All is full of love : your phone is off the hook
All is full of love : your doors are all shut
All is full of love

Today is Day 6 of my Juice Feast. Still I’ve not managed to drink more than 2.5 quarts/liters of juice. As well as about 2 quarts of water and 8oz of Kombucha. (I’ll explain Kombucha in another post). I’ve not really been very active however so I may just not need as much juice right now. I’ve been… Continue

I have come to realise something I have always know, but it’s one of those things you ignore - I have emotions, which can and do manifest physically beyond just emotional eating. On the 2nd day of our juice fast, I found myself strangely emotional -just introverted and quietly confronting some of my thoughts and ingrained “beliefs” about myself. Leisa’s lecture on the Emotional Aspects of Healing came at the perfect time, and opened up a whole new perspective for me. I am still digesting the inf… Continue

Fall is officially here in the NYC, although the last week has been more like spring weather with highs in the 70s. But it's that transitional time where some stores/apartments are providing heat and others AC and my skin is tightening and expanding at will. I want to mash some creamy avocado onto my face and sleep in it's green goodness! Got to ramp up my water intake to help the dermis out a bit.
One issue that I've been dealing with is a certain haze that has settled over my spirt; a general… Continue
In late November of 2007, when I heard about the possibility of a vegan live food restaurant opening in the beach community where I grew up, I was elated. And when I was approached to be the head chef at this prospective restaurant I almost sharted my board shorts... At the time I was going on 3 months as a volunteer chef/instructor in the vegan live food cafe at the Tree of Life in Patagonia, AZ.… Continue

Your dog is sooo cute! I have a dog too and two cats, and I looove them! I feed them wheatgrass and they actually choose that before regular grass wich they normally chew on in the garden.
I decided to have a 50/50 raw/cooked meal at Vita last night, having had a desire for warm meals for last couple of weeks. They had a Vegan Paella, it was amazing but it's only the second time I have had grains for a year and I had headache soon a...
It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
