Angus Wooly headed thinking

According to researchers at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I of the Heinrich-Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany - "Individuals with a high daily intake of vegetables and fruits also demonstrate higher cognitive performance. Please notice that vegetables are mentioned first because they are FAR more important than fruits." Here’s another example of ‘wooly-headed thinking’ 1. How high is high? - One of the problems with medical information is that it is not specific - tha… Continue

Three acres of self-sustainable, off-the-grid (except for phone lines and high speed internet), permacultured, tropical lusciousness on the Big Island of Hawaii is For Sale! Sharon Jones a guide to choosing fruit for diabetics

i already posted this in one of the groups but then decided to give it an airing on the main blog sections, so forgive me if i am repeating myself...... ;) a guide to choosing fruit for diabetics most vegetables consumed on a raw diet are very low carbohydrate value. a raw carrot for instance may have a carbohydrate value of only 6 grams carbohydrates, but when you knock off the fibre of that food then you end up with a net carbs value of around zero. so most diabetics eating a r… Continue

AwesomeUniverse!!! History of Chinese Philosophy of Fruit etc.

This is only part of a recent article I read http://chi.maroc.to/fruit.htm. This author is amazing and touches on some interesting aspects of fruit, history, and spirituality.. wow #B2. Robert 12 Foods You Need to Buy Organic

For a long time I was on the fence about organic produce. Sure, I liked the idea of buying it, especially if it was grown locally, but I just couldn’t get over the cost. As my diet started changing and I started thinking more about what I was putting into my body, organically grown foods started… Continue

Breanna Wonderful!

I just got back from riding my bike to an ORGANIC FARM that is sooo fucking close to my house. Sorry for the strong language, but I'm sooo fucking excited. It took less than a half hour to bike there. I just found it while looking for CSAs online the other day, so I decided to check it out. Just to see how far it is. I emailed them asking for a tour (they do tours for school kids -$7 each) It would be so fantastic if they needed help in one way or another on the farm. I'm tired of warehousing. I… Continue

s Bait and switch: binge eating

Oh, the things I ate when I was sad. Pastas, pastries, pizzas. Cookies, cakes, candies. Pretzels, cereals, bread, peanut butter, burritos, olives, chips, sauerkraut if I was desperate. Thousands and thousands of calories' worth. I've been a bit down in the dumps quite a few times before, and I was really down in the dumps the past few days. Like many, I turned to the friend who is only there to comfort the… Continue

Angus Another slice of fruit

Another slice of fruit -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Terry beat me to yesterday's fruit forage piled high on the counter. It had turned mid-day when he declared that it was time for lunch - breakfast for us as we hadn't eaten yet. He was standing at the kitchen counter, knife in hand and smile on face. I grabbed a second cutting board and knife and we proceeded to 'create' a fruit salad fit for any galloping gourmet. - Pineapple, passionfruit, persimmon, golden kiw… Continue

My dog likes to sleep between my legs. Warm and I rather not speculate what's going through Mr. SS McCracken's head. Then again, he likes to sniff the cat's butt after using the litterbox :hurl:
