Are you keeping a journal of your fast? I think I'll try to jot down: when I'm hungry, what I want to eat, how long it takes for that feeling to subside... I think it'll show me when I'm eating for reasons other than nourishing my body.

If we do not rise to the challenge of our unique capacity to shape our lives, to seek the kinds of growth that we find individually fulfilling, then we can have no security; we will live in a world of sham in which our selves are determined by the will of others, in which we will be constantly buffeted and increasingly isolated by the changes round us. ~Nena O'Neil

80/10/10 in Santa Cruz

I moved to Santa Cruz, CA instead of Paradise! I missed the ocean and my nearest and dearest too much. I'm hoping to connect with other raw foodies in the area some time after I've settled down. And hopefully when things stabilize, I will be going back to school. But for now, it's focusing on getting situated.

I'm currently working my way to an 80/10/10 diet in order to treat Crohn's Disease. I've tried other ways of eating raw and just have not been successful, so I thought I would give this o… Continue

Looking for a New Beginning

It turns out that I will need to be finding a new place to settle for a while. Circumstances have taken a turn for the overwhelming, and I keep getting messages telling me it's time to be on my own for a bit. Essentially, I've been without a room of my own for nearly 2 years, and I am an introvert. I have bigger space needs than most anyone I know, and I find that the need is so enormous, that other needs start taking a backseat to it, the longer I go without it. And the longer I go, the more di… Continue

Raw Asian Food Porn

I had a bit of an Asian inspiration the last few days, and the raw dishes were so sexy, I just had to share.

Vegetable Nori Rolls with Almond Pates

Almond pates reminicent of tuna and salmon are accompanied by broccoli sprouts, red and golden bell peppers, carrot slices, cucumber ribbons, avocado, and cilantro, rolled in sheets of nori. It's been about a year since I made these… Continue

Cancer, closer

My Aunt has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma: cancer of the blood which is in her bones, several tumors along her spine and neck, and a stage 4 cancer tumor on her lung. The doctors have given her one year to a year and a half to live, two years maximum.

I went to the hosptial on Friday to see her. I haven't seen her for several years, since right before my own several-year-long healing crisis, (which I am still addressing, but am largely on the other side of). I went with my mother, to hol… Continue

Green Smoothies

I've just started drinking Green Smoothies again, while also reading Green For Life by Victoria Boutenko. The book is a great read, and I have to say that I feel this has been the missing link in my cuisine for the last year. When I first went raw, I drank a quart of these a day, and was doing great. But I did not have the book, so I did not realize the importance of rotating one's greens, as is mentioned several times throughout. I started having a very hard time and eventually, just as Victori… Continue

YOU are a gift of Light ~ wow... It is a supreme honor, sweet angel. I'm working on some raw recipes this week. We are going to a conference in LA on Thursday - Quantum Leap 2012- and will be back on Monday. So, I'd love to meet up soon and upload your energy through loving osmosis. :-)

Leisure. I visited Rio during carnival, Brasilia, John of God, Chapada dos Veadeiros, Amazon, Belem, Jericoacoara, Sao Louis, Fortaleza, Natal, Pippa, Salvador and many other places over 3-4 months. I saved Bahia for last and I shouldn't have because I got a contract job in NYC and had to leave quickly. I never did Bahia. What part of Brazil are you or your family from? I've been thinking about taking some forro classes.

I've had acai drinks and bowls hundreds of times in Brazil and NYC but I've never worked with the powder. I think I'll have to buy some. This looks good.

I just made up a recipe. I'm not sure I'll make it again. Too addictive. Goji Bliss balls are a favorite too

1 c cacao powder, 130 grams cacao butter (or just add until creamy chocolate is formed), ½ c almonds, dried figs or dried cherries, 1 T coconut butter(optional), 4 T agave, 1 T mesquite powder, ½ t lucuma(optional), ¼ c almond or macadamia butter(optional), 1 t cinnamon, 1 T vanilla extract, 1/8 t salt Mix nuts, figs and cherries to desired consistency in food processor, set aside. Mix remaining ingredients in food processor,

Add nuts, cherries and figs and blend briefly. Freeze in same container for a few hours. Process again briefly and form balls. The nut butter makes it more like milk chocolate.

Hello angel ~ Okay, I just heard from the goddess I'm moving with and we're now looking for a place in the area that is a halfway point from Silicon Valley to the coast. I believe she mentioned Oakland Hills. We are open, as we are looking for the PERFECT spot for growing fruits, vegetables, and having some animals. We are creating our magical and divine FAIRYLAND.

I dance in joy, as I anticipate connecting with you on the physical plane. I'll be arriving on Thursday sometime, and I know the weekend is full of establishing foundation for expansion. Are there any fun and stimulating events you plan on attending in the next week or two? Let me know. maybe I will join you. :-)

Keep shining BRIGHT, gorgeous Light ~ *Besos*

I always used to get sick on foods from restaurants, but the same meal I prepared at home wouldn't make me sick.... restaurants tend to drown foods in butter and oils, you've probably been eating less of those since going on those diet.
