Hi Plumbergrl,
Yes, that was me. We finally got all of our dental work done a couple of weeks ago. At least, as far as the budget allows for now. Glad to see you are doing so well. Keep up the good work!

Have an awesome day!

Hi Jenny!
Are you the lady from Red Deer? Because I talked to someone yesterday in the city for dental work!

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi plumbergrl!
Welcome to the forum and the world of raw foods! It can be an incredible journey and congratulations on your successes thus far. Guy(my dh) is a bit more active on this forum than I am, but I do tend to check in once in a while. I tend to focus a lot of my attention on finding ways to incorporate more raw into our children's diet, so I am constantly searching out recipes in the hopes that I can find some tasty ways to get more greens and veggies in their diet.

I love Community Natural Foods. I was actually there yesterday, as we had to come to Calgary for some dental work. I am just curious if you were the lady who helped me with buying shampoo, as the person I talked to said she had only been there a short time.

Take care,
Jenny

Hi Guy!
Thanks for the good advice! Unfortunately my family isn't with me on this journey, although they are fully supportive...so buying in bulk isn't usually required...
Are there any raw foodie functions happening in Calgary?
I would love to participate if there were!

peace,

plumbergrl

Hey Welcome plumbergirl.
Good luck at Community Natural Foods. Its a pretty cool store.
If you have a family you can talk to some grocers about buying bulk. I buy case loads of stuff at times.
Some veggies and fruit are not treated with pesticides etc as much as others. We do not always buy organic Avocados for example.
I have four of us that eat mostly organic on a modest single income so its always a challenge.

Hi!
I am here to learn and be inspired, and hopefully someday to teach and inspire others, I know in my heart and in my gut that the raw food lifestyle is the way to go and I am slowly making my way there.
I have read the Carol Alt books on the raw food lifestyle and I have Ani Phyo's book as well. I have been doing a lot of research on line and I think that raw food is the ultimate "fast food" and that fits in with my rather hectic lifestyle!
I am still a long way off of ideal, but I know that every day I am getting closer!

Thanks for the welcome!

Two weeks raw...when is the pain supposed to ease up???

Well,

it has been two weeks since I started the raw journey and I do feel better....especially my stomach and "female" issues....however I still hurt just as much (maybe more) than I did when I started, I am cold alot and not sleeping any better.

I know it takes time and it isn't a miracle cure but damn it! I am soooo tired of being in pain!

Just venting...it will come I am sure!

peace,

Wow!

It's been just over a week I have been raw, and I have lost 8lbs!!!

I am sure that most of that is water and toxins...and that is okay with me...the fat will go too!

Going to work today...hope everyone has a great day!

Peace,

I got a job!

Went for an interview yesterday at Community Natural Foods....they called me back later that day to let me know that the job was mine! I have to go meet the manager today and get my schedule all sorted out....at least it's something till I go back to plumbing in mid august...also I get a 25% discount on all my groceries there!!!! That means I can afford more organic fruits and veggies!!! I am not sure when the discount kicks in...I hope it is right away!

I also have a job offer to work

Day 5 and feeling alive!!!

I have discovered green smoothies!!!!

OMG's!!! Yummy or what?!?

I used 2 big black kale leaves, a handful of flatleaf parsley, a banana, a handful of strawberries, 3 soaked dates and some water....Surprisingly good!!!

I will keep adding more greens to see where the "taste good" threshold ends.

They are soooo filling and yummy!

My weight is coming down pretty fast as well...I imagine alot of that is water and toxins...but still it makes me very happy!

I don't think this exists for humans yet, unfortunately - but what I think would be the healthiest mattress (and virtually free of dust-mites, even bed-bugs which inflict some homes recently) for humans would be the same as the healthiest for pets...
