Hi, I'm on the road to Raw. My family are meat-eaters, so for the last 20 years I have been veggie on and off. I've never managed to stay vegan consistently for very long. I'm actually quite enjoying raw dairy (unpasteurised from a local farm) as ...

*shakes head vigorously and rubs eyes*

I'm just not sleeping enough...

You think I'm kidding - you must think I'm kidding, because if you know me,
you know that I'm the one who gets to sleep in while hubby leaves the
sanctity of our nice warm bed and rouses the troops for school.

But if you think I'm kidding, you're wrong.

See,
there's a difference between high-quality sleep and whatever-it-is I'm
getting, because there's no other way to explain this:

Ahhhh...Day 16 on the Juice Feast, and changes are afoot

Or a-stomach.

I've noticed that my tummy is much flatter than usual. Which is good, as it was ... erm... NOT flat before.

But also bad, because of that pesky "Look! I've had two children!" flab of skin which wasn't helped by the emergency c-section..

I'm having the world's best sleep.

I'm also having serious doubts whether I can do this much longer. Of course, I had those doubts about a week ago, so...

In other news: I've developed quite a nice routi… Continue

Hot Dang! I've made it to Day 12 of a Juice Feast!!!

Which is saying a lot, for me. I loves ma food. I'm finding that I'm in total rebellion against the thought of another green juice. It doesn't matter... fresh, powdered, whatever... I DON'T want another green juice. *le sigh* Jennifer hooked me up with a good recipe, which I'll try today, but I am seriously in an anti-juice mood.

I've been enjoying the sweeter juices, and the V8 style juices. But the green juices... they're hard to manage. I bought a container of powdered green juice fo… Continue

Day 3 of Juice Feasting and I've a Coupla Weird Questions for anyone to answer...

What's the white film coating my tongue? It's plasticy and makes my tongue numb/makes things taste weird. When will it go away?

Is it normal to be feeling colder than usual?

I'm peeing like crazy, my face looks thinner, my stomach is flatter... but my weight's gone up... what's up with that???

I've noticed that 2 days ago and today my skin (all the skin on my body) is flushed...like mild sunburn or when you use too much glycolic acid peel. It's not painful, just weird.… Continue

So Then I Added the Cayenne Pepper...

I had my day all planned out - two large green drinks and a nice fruit
drink to finish the menu. I juiced and juiced and juiced my brains out.
The juice drink was lovely tasting, if not to look at, when I sampled
it - celery, carrot, persimmon, and some sort of cactus pear thingy
with lots of seeds. It was, much to my surprise, very green. A muddy
green. But green.

I put everything in the fridge.

I drank my drinks dutifully, at meal times, and was pleasantly
surprised to fi… Continue

Thanks for starting the High-Raw Non Vegans group. It makes me feel much less "persona non grata".
Are we going to get a cool picture for the group? Maybe one that doesn't obviously say "we eat meat", cause I don't want to offend vegans. I can really understand their choice, and I actually forget to eat meat (I don't crave it at all), but it's addition just makes good nutrition sense to me so far. It's acyually quite strange to be in the minority by being raw and then coming on here and being the minority by being omnivorous.
Anyway, I know this is a rather trivial request, but it would be super cool to get a pic.

Thanks again for the group.

Great! Yes food's good as well...

As for 80/10/10...

Well put simply, of the food you consume, 80% of the calories come from carbs, 10% of the calories from protein, and 10% of the calories from fats.

This basically means you eat a whole load of fruit plus a load of leafy greens (in my case anyway), drink some water and then have some veggies with a tiny amount of fat in the evening.

I've been on it now for about two to three weeks and I'm loving it so far. I always restricted the amount of fruit I ate because of candida concerns, but I've discovered that fruit is fine if you have candida issues as long as you limit the fat. Too much fat is actually what causes candida it seems which is interesting...

Cool I am glad you know about Gabriel Cousens MD I recommend him in my books, websites, interviews because he is a RAW Doctor/Author who actually did research and has medical proof, he doesn't just say "It is good because it is Raw Organic" because fact is like ANY diet/food trend you have to know your body, body type, blood type, keep it low sugar/glycemic and yes every body is different so I am glad you know this, just go over the Phases and Low Glycemic Chapters again...things to avoid= carrots, beets on certain phases etc. on Google.com Books there is free pages you can read:

http://books.google.com/books?id=7NQYFlwT56QC&pg=PA27&lpg=PA27&dq=cashew+mycotoxin+gabriel+cousens&source=web&ots=aSXKv6zaXC&sig=awyd5x_-pHCrGTcgrKUlmUUV2nQ

Different pages/chapters you can read about glycemic index, sugar, what to avoid, etc...

Hope you find the answers!:)

Yeah I have seen this happen, the carrots thing and high sugar thing! Try not to use the high sugar and like I said try Blending in a blender. Normally we do not "juice" in nature we eat and chew with fiber/pulp when we chew it activates our digestive enzymes and stomach/system to absorb food so you will digest/assimilate it better Gabriel Cousens MD did serious research on this, when people "acted" like they were chewing while they were drinking smoothies or juices their bodies absobed it better. He did research on thousands of patients and got that medical result. I am not a doctor or expert but I think you are getting too much sugar and juice all at once. Also when I was at the Tree Of Life Rejuvenation Center I saw a girl that was also healthy, vegetarian but she got this HUGE BOIL on her arm in the 2nd day of fasting/juicing! It was like the size of an organge and was scary...Gabriel told us that the body is rapidly detoxing and he has seen many types of reactions and detox from acne, boils, and many other things it is a long list, he said it is unpredictable and different with each person. Also even though you are vegetarian or vegan and positive outlook on life it does not mean you are automatically super healthy, just like if you are on 100% Raw Organic it does not mean you are super healthy! You can be both veggie or vegan or 100% Raw Organic but if you not eating the right things, or eating wrong random recipes or food you may actually be increasing your candida, yeast, fungus and even 100% Raw people were totally surprised to find this out when they did blood tests and analysis that is the ONLY way to find out what is really going on, even though they were 100% Raw the Nama soyu, soy sauce, also all the dates and honey or high sugar increased their candida/yeast/fungus in their blood! I try to tell people but they resist info...so I don't really say anything anymore and let people find out on their own I don't want to be the "bad guy" people don't like to hear what they can't or shouldn't eat they resist, they get mad so I stop trying, I posted a few things about cashews and it did not change anything so I am not posting info anymore it is up to people to read Gabriel Cousens MD BOOKS! So your yeast/candida/fungus or something else may be elevated and just because you are vegan, vegetarian, or 100% or any $ raw does not mean you are eating correctly, low glycemic(low sugar) or are automatically healthy. I know this is surprising to find out but is VERY IMPORTANT because many people are in fact making and eating wrong/random raw and veggie foods!

I use Explorer and can't open Discussions and can't use other browsers so wanted to help you! You might be experiencing DETOX but I am not sure what you are juicing? You have to be careful because you don't want to get a lot of high sugar content into your body, often times people get excited and juice carrots, beets, etc. and it is way too much sugar, ideally you may went to Blend because you get pulp, fiber and the sugar gets absorbed slowly...even if you are juicing greens you will detox so it is good to eat food too so you detox slowly, hope my advice helps!

I saw people get boils, symptoms like yours when they fasted and juiced...everything comes out from the past even emotions, people may not realize but past traumas and emotions will come out during detox, raw and Yoga this is good and healthy but only in slow appropriate detoxing that is controlled, you may want to go to Tree of Life or other expert Raw/Detox/Spas or Health Centers...where there are experts, Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach are excellent too...

Oh yea. One day at a time is right! My daughter has been vegan since conception so I don't struggle like most parents who try to transition their kiddos to raw...but it's a tiny tiny battle. I keep offering her raw goodies and one day..one meal at a time. I'm wearing her down. She already says, "junk food....YUCK!"

Hey there! Yes my daughter has Autism. She has been GF/CF for over a year now. And is recently soy free as well. So she's a gluten free, caisen free, soy free vegan. Whew! I am trying with the most love ever to increase her raw intake. One day...one meal/snack at a time. very difficult to get her to try new things, but she recently started drinking small quantities of "chocolate smoothies" :) thanks for mentioning the diet though. I swear by it!

Angus, It may seem like a piddling point, but I think it's important that we don't call theories "laws". And thanks for the clarification on this one. ----tele
