two months on....

and I've learned so much.

  • I need to be kinder to myself. I have had 41 years of unhealthy living and I am not going to become a super-healthy, buzzing 100% raw vegan overnight. Instead of focusing on the times I fall into old eating patterns, it is far more helpful to focus on all the goodies I've added...my god, with all these green smoothies over the past month I have eaten more dark green leafy

week one...the rise and fall of raw moira

well week one has come to an end...and I have to report I've not done well :-(
Started the week enthused and determined, but it all went pear shaped by Wednesday. I had to spend the day in Glasgow at a work thing, and ended up drinking coffee, eating horrible cheese sandwiches and biscuits. Felt really yucky afterwards and found myself slipping right back into my worst habits. I do have a tendency to be a bit "all or nothing" so it shouldn't surprise me that I reacted in this way - but I fel… Continue

Moira goes raw....well, raw-er

OK, so I've been reading the books. I'm convinced that raw makes sense. So why have I found it so hard to put into action? I've been making breakfast smoothies and huge salads at lunchtime, but then find myself slipping easily back into bad habits....when my hubbie has egg, veggie burger and beans on toast on a cold sunday morning, I can't resist. Over the Christmas and New Year period I have been eating worse than ever...all the usual festive crap.

Anyway, yesterday was

Thinking of moving to a place called Blanefield, it's out past Milngavie? Can't wait to get out in the countryside and fresh air!
Yeah the meetup groups are growing big time, it's really exciting! Hopefully we'll catch up soon.
Take care x

That's great that you're feeling better. Getting back in to it might take a while but you'll definitely get there - you've got the raw fighting spirit!!
Yeah Anabrese's book is full of yummy treats, my fave is definitely the pakora. Might make some more of that this weekend. I'm doing good thanks for asking. No potlucks organised apart from this Saturday (can you make it?) and then Red Sugar on V day. Shame you can't come. I'm sure there'll be more organised though, seems to be more and more people crawling out the woodwork :)
I love lymphatic massages - sounds like you've got a good wee thing going. It's always nice to have people to share raw food with. Don't know if I'd have lasted this long without it!
Selling my flat at the momet, having decided to go and live in the country. Got a woman coming on Friday for a second viewing so I'm very positive despite all the doom and gloom going on.
It can't be long till Tibet now is it? x

Good Good, looking forward to meeting you Moira and you'll be welcome to join us when you can. warm wishes, Judy

ps, hmm, even if you eat some cooked food, can it be healthy vegan rather thank junk? that's still a pretty good diet and you can be edging along to more raw. hope that helps.

Hey Moira
Glad you enoyed the retreat even if you did come back with a cold. You know I'm definitely thinking about doing it some time if I can get enough time off work.
That's great that you and Dave were doing it together. Yeah I can just imagine him with all his fridge full of greens! :)
That's pants about the 12th but I'm sure there'll be a xmas one too so you can come to that.
Hope things are going well for you. I've mastered chocolate now and regularly have some on the go. I'm such a chocolatier these days ;)

Yeah, never much thought at the time though as it was late at night and had been about 40 degrees here. Oh well. I am so familiar with the way the Engish and Irish talk that I just assume everyone is the same with the kiwis and Aussies.

RGG, the belly-centered symptoms that most people (mistakenly) call hunger usually pass within 2-3 days. Your body is not hungry while fasting because it gets all of its needs met from its own reserves.

Another way to think about this is that "frugivore" is a word used by scientists to describe any animal that eats a fruit-based diet (including virtually all of the anthropoid primates). "Frugivore" has an accepted scientific definition. "Fruitari...

Hi Priyam and RGG, Even blending them is a big step down in quality from eating them whole, for a number of reasons. The pre-chewing argument -- often heard -- doesn't really carry much weight as the benefit of chewing in the mouth is that any re...

Try this. I found out about it when I worked at Jubbs longevity. There is absolutely no aftertaste and a bottle lasts forever. I've been using it for years. Lucky Vitamin has amazing prices on many things too. http://www.luckyvitamin.com/item/ite...
