Kefir grains for sale

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased some kefir grains from e-bay only to realize, too late, that they were grains for dairy, not water, cultures. I figured instead of wasting perfectly good kefir grains, I may as well re-sell them to someone who can use them. Do any of you raw veggies want to start experimenting with kefir?
I bought the grains for $10 so that's the price I'll be reselling them at. I'm willing to mail them anywhere in North America. Any takers??

They look like this… Continue

oi vay...

lately, i just feel so... oi. i've become very 'disillusioned' with the raw 'movement' lately. there's far too much bickering going on for my liking. bickering, name-dropping, guru-hopping, and dogma-pumping.
i eat plants. mostly fruit and greens. sometimes seeds. i love fatty fruit, and i also loved steamed vegetables. i have a thing for sun-dried figs, but i'd take a green juice over them any day of the week.
what does that make me? i feel at home with the 811 crew, with their love of fruit an… Continue

flog (aka food blog)

today's eats were
2 red grapefruit
smoothie of 1 lb of strawberries, 1 mango, 1 orange (such a delicious combo)
smoothie of 4 bananas (2 frozen), 4 stalks of celery

i had intended to have some kiwis too, but it's the end of the day and i'm not hungry at all. in fact, i could go to sleep right now at, uh, 8:45. i slept 12 hours last night, too. since the semester has ended, i've been sleeping like a rock every night. i've even started dreaming again. (for me, the school year = major sleep distur… Continue

today's fruity eats- day 2

i'm doing a week of all fresh fruits and veggies (nothing dehydrated, sun-dried), no overt fats, salt, seaweed or herbs as a kind of spring cleanse. i figured i'd record it here because, well, i like reading what other people eat. i'm probably not alone in this. so, for all of you dietary voyeurs, enjoy!

2 red grapefruits
ice cream of 2 frozen bananas, 1/2 cup strawberries
3 carrots
1 dragon fruit
smoothie of 3 bananas, 1 kiwi, juice of 1 lemon, 4 large stalks of celery
3 bananas,1 kiwi

Hi Kathryn. Let me know if you won't be doing the trade for the kefir grains with Miriam. I could probably buy them from you.

Funny you say that. I was actually wondering what that cream was. I had forgotten. But you're right... I think it was coconut cream from Quintessence.

Hi Kathryn,

Thanks for watching - I'd love to provide more detail. CLA is still an excellent weight loss supplement and has been proven to be especially effective for those who suffer from hypothyroidism. I have my own mother on CLA and she has not experienced any adverse reactions or health conditions. She is a fan of allopathic medicine and gets blood panels done every 6 months as a preventative measure - she is in perfect health. Granted, she is only one person, however, in all of my research on CLA, I have found it to be safe and effective. Most people do not have to take it for prolonged periods of time and it is a good replacement for conventional caffeine- and ephedra-laden weight loss pills. There has been one preliminary study done on hamsters regarding increased bile occlusion in the gallbladder, even though the hamsters' cholesterol was lowered. You're at more risk of having oxidative stress from working out, as oxygen is a free radical and breathing heavier while performing a physical activity causes rapid oxidation and free radical damage. CLA may create an imbalance in DHA levels if you take it for prolonged periods of time and do not have an adequate intake of other EFAs. Taking too much flax, borage, or hemp oil will also throw your DHA levels off-balance.

I would rather recommend CLA to people who would like some extra support in their weight loss goals and have them get off conventional, truly poisonous weight loss pills. CLA, like anything, should be used in moderation and not for excessive periods of time.

Let me know if that helps.
