Hopefully quick post

I went to get some accupuncture here in Boulder Monday evening. I told them about my gastric woes and they poked some Stomach and Liver meridian points. They were surprisingly unshocked by my raw diet -- Chinese medicine I was expecting yelling and scolding for such an extreme "cold, yin" choice when they're all about balancing the elements and chi etc etc-- and just suggested steaming lightly as I adjusted to the diet or being more careful about what foods I take together or in certain quantiti… Continue

Grrr says my gut. Breathe says my brain

I've been dealing with what seems to be the manifestation of the first physical challenges of eating raw recently. My skin is breaking out where it isn't finely flaking off ; my intestines (large and small?) have been really inflammed causing some intense bloating and constipation. A couple nights ago I got 12 hours of sleep! I was not pleased because I was moody to go along with unusually sleepy and just wanted everyone to leave me alone to rest. I'm pretty sure an unnecessarily big broccoli sa… Continue

first social challenge

So since I made the decision to eat raw and vegan I've been home and then here just with my recently vegan roommate . In these settings there has been no need to stick up for my decision or explain it. A friend stopped by today (I've mentioned him as the one who smokes a lot of weed) and we chatted and he and roommie smoked (I'm leaving that behind me this year as well :-) ). My roommate mentioned that I was eating raw food- which I didn't want to bring up really- and Tim started to say how he d… Continue

back in Boulder

I'm back in my apartment in Boulder. I spent $47 at Whole Foods last night on enough food for a few days... yup. I hope the other grocery stores in town have less expensive produce!

Being back with my roommate is already a challenge. He's not really a personal space respecter when it comes to me not wanting to hear his stories/realizations. I have to focus on the good parts of our relationship and see if I can drive away the annoying things by not acknowledging them... a Secret practic… Continue

a good conscious day

Last night w/ the dreaded ex (haha) was fun. I had two other good friends with me and his girlfriend and friend were fun too! I think the things I dread the most are often the most meaningful or at least plesant in the end. We bumped into lots of old friends and since I was not driving I drank my fill of patron and hard cider. I didn't feel physically hung over today but I'm a little more anxious and emotional and I'm thinking slower. So, that's why I wrote a good conscious day--Continue

There I am, new year's eve, having just watched Dick Clark give us the play-by-play of the ball dropping, and my friend texts me: "4 more years til the awakening."

I swear this 2012 talk drives me crazy.

Anyway, glad you had a great great great day. I had a solid day. Can't complain. I heard a bird chirp and I'm pretty sure it was for my benefit.

Hey hey, thanks for adding me. How the heck's it going? I was just reading your blog posting about yet another 2012 theory. I swear -- if nothing happens in 2012 and life continues without incident, I'm gonna sue someone. I just don't know who yet.

I just learnt that; The kinds of foods we become obsessed with are also created by the food manufacturer and restaurants to elicit an emotional response by triggering dopamine in the brain. When our opiate centers are stimulated with high sugar, h...

I was wondering, what changes acupuncture makes, in any way (Mind, mood, overall body). Really any info on it from anyone who has gotten it. And what does it usually cost? Thanks a lot :j
