Hi everybody

Geeez i've been real busy, hence the lack of blogging... Well last Wednesday April 16th, i was invited to participate in the North Shore Runners group running expo in North Sydney. V.F.F's & The Canberra Marathon in Chi

Hi everyone!
Well the jury is in!

After having run half of the Canberra marathon course last week, i have decided to go run it on April 13th with the V.F.F's!
Let me remind you, i am not out to break my P.B of 2'40", however what i am doing is to see if:
1) It can be run for a relative new "V.F.F Barefooter" without any issues
2) Can one train on 40 kms a week (or so) by just perfecting his ChiRunning technique and when working on ones Tempo (or sub L.T) endurance pace

Canberra Marathon Experiment

As some of you may know, the last few weeks has been spent testing out the V.F.F's and the suitability of using them for a road race of Marathon distance. (see my posts on my forum at www.vortexperformancesports.com, or VORTEXRAWSPORTS blog
Also, another part of the experiment (there are three parts), was training methods. As a experienced ChiRunner since 2005, as well as certified ChiRunning coach, and having an accomplished running re

Hey Coach! It has been awhile since we connected on here and we were wondering your advice. Do you recommend any good exercises for rehabilitating the back from chronic back (lumbar) pain, or sciatic nerve issues?

We just jogged today and Kal did well last week, but he is having a time again today.

Thanks for your input. Hope you are good and all is well on your end.

I just read your post about your DNF at Canberra. Sorry to hear about that. I'm following my own experiment to see where I can take running ultras and raw nutrition, I'll probably also do a few marathons along the way including 6FT so I read your posts with interest. I have transitioned to doing all of my training in 6oz racing flats (up to 50k runs on road) and was considering going to the VFFs but don't think I will now considering all the variables that I need to focus on.

That was so interesting to read! Good luck with everything you're doing! I'm sure you'll be very successful! Is your nutritional intake different on days you work out? Do you advise others on their nutritional intake as well as coaching them?

I love quotes!! Here's one that i love... "Small minds talk about other people, Average minds talk about events, Brilliant minds talk about ideas,"-Eleanor Roosevelt...

Do you think it's possible for me 6'1 160 pounds skinny - To be a solid 190 lean muscle on a raw diet?? if so, would it take way longer than the whey protien and creatine drinking lifters? and how would i go about it??? I view you as an expert and I haven't really seen any buff raw foodies

Thank you so much for the welcoming and inspiring message! You live in Australia!! I am going to do a semester abroad over there sometime within the next year. The only problem is that I know I will have a tremendously difficult time coming back to the States! I have completely fallen in love with the character of every Australian I have met, and although I have never visited before, I just know from what interaction I have had with them, that they are just the most amazing people in the world! I can't wait to visit!

Also, your profile is very interesting! Could you please tell me more about what you do as a coach? Take care!

Chi Runnig looks good I tried to run with the forward lean form and felt pretty comfortable. I went on a short bike today and tried the new drink
1 date, 2 Tbs Agave necar, a little organic lemon juice, some himalayan salt. some cocnut water and plain water. Was very smooth. I do not like the fructose drinks out there (too sweet) so this was very good.. I actually like blander and slightly salty. Im going to make a couple bottles for my 62 miler on sunday that I am doing.

Brendan has two books. His second book The Thrive Diet, is all about fueling raw for triathlons and he has tons of recipes in there including his own homemade electrolyte drinks which I believe are similar to yours and also how he makes his own sports bar.
