I just throw stuff in the blender. You can use pumpkin, sweet potato, etc. plus cashews and pumpkin pie spice plus a tbs or two of chia to give it a more eggy consistency.

Since the holidays are coming up and it's getting a little chillier here, I'd like a raw recipe that tastes like egg nog. Can anyone help? I used to drink egg nog lattes and I'd like to mix the egg nog with my raw "coffee" to get a similar flavor....

Hey bonon i love green smoothies they really help you out. i was very inspired to do g.smoothies after reading victorias "green for life" and i definitely recommend it. Mosambi is like a sweet lemon, but its something that resembles an orange, except that its more sweeter to taste. I usually don't get this fruit in US, currently in india for a vacation and im enjoying every moment of it going for these exclusive fruits. So what about you? how long have you been into raw?

Green smoothies are delicious! I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried one, didn't think I would like it, but I love them! Good luck!! Keep trying different variations to mix it up & not get bored.

I just ordered 7 pounds of organic persimmons from www.BoxedGreens.com. They arrive Friday! I'm salivating just thinking about them :)

Your persimmon photo grabbed my attention. I had a persimmon for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I don't think I've found a good one yet but I think once I eat my first good, ripe, one I'll be a big fan!

Fresh Air for What Ails You!

Today was so beautiful I went out and swept the leaves off the driveway! There's a winter storm watch for tomorrow that's supposed to bring a "wintry mix" and getting the leaves out of the way makes clean up a lot easier! The sweeping was just what I needed to feel somewhat myself again. I'm still pretty sick, but have energy now. I should take it easy though and let my body get this stuff out!!! No green smoothie today but I'll have 2 tomorrow to make up for it. Still on the spinach as my baby… Continue

Still Pluggin' Away...

Arghh.... I'm still sick! It's going on 2 weeks now and I'm really sick of it!! Hahah! Right now I'm eating some "sauteed" mushrooms and garlic. I got a tip from RawDaddy who told me to put slice mushrooms in the dehydrator at 100-115 (I put them in at 105) for 90 minutes. Salt and Pepper them about half way through. I added 2 cloves of garlic 'cos I love garlic! The whole house smells wonderful!

Picked up some spinach, kale and some fruit for my continuing green smoothie adventure! My… Continue

Healing Crisis!

yes, I am known to be a little overly dramatic at times, especially when I'm sick. I know there are lots of other people out there with terrible ailments and here I get all whiny and drama-like over the common cold - but I'm not used to being sick!! I've had this thing for over 2 weeks now and after about a week of Nyquil and other evil conventional meds, I got the notice about GITMR and realized, duh - raw foods as medicine!! haha!! So since Sunday I've been 100% and on the green smoothie quick… Continue

Yet Another Green Smoothie!

Since I still have this outrageous cold that just won't go away, I continue in my green smoothie obsession. Since I have a bunch of fresh blueberries and strawberries that I need to use, those will go in along with some frozen mango and the rest of my spinach. I'm pretty much cleaning out the refrigerator so I can start on bolder green smoothie creations and really make this a daily thing! Yay!

Green Smoothies

Something that's really missing in my life is green smoothies! (especially now since I have a cold that just won't go away). So I'm currently obsessing about them and trying to find recipes so I can plan a green smoothie menu for the week and go grocery shopping! Here's what I've found so far:

from fredericpatenaude.com – always blend the fruit first:

  • 2-3 cups any greens of your choice, 2 cups papaya, 2 oranges, 3 dates

  • 1 handful lettuce leaves, 1 handful mint
