I just saw your blog posting about things improving in the world and how life is better than it was 100 years ago. I don't necessarily agree. True, blacks aren't lynched and women can vote, but the election has turned into a sham. Also, slavery continues unabated in the rest of the world. And we're slowly starting to lose our rights, with the introduction of things like free speech zones. Add what's happening to the planet in terms of the environment (all the chemical toxins and plastic, eroding topsoil, etc) and I don't think we're living in the best of times.
hey Arpan, sorry for the delay...i haven't been on the site for a while. The quote is from a lady who is kind of like a mentor to me...she said it during a conversation and it really stuck with me.
those are some pretty cool pictures of nature! where are # 4, 8, and 9 from?
Yesterday, I looked at the website you have created.
When I was in India, I was swept away by the artistry, craftsmanship which is everywhere. From the hand-carved marble in the temples, to the miniature painters; the beautiful, colourful textiles, all done by hand, using block prints and plant-extracted pigments for the colours. I really have no words to describe the admiration I have for that kind of culture. I know that they are not paid well. And I am afraid to wonder how long these traditions will survive in modern mass-production times, but for me they are priceless and have a soul.
Something funny.
When I woke up this morning I had this dream that those artist from the pictures in your website have made a similar painting based on our posts on GI2MR, as if they were telling our story. Because, you know, how the comments come one after another in a similar form as those paintings, and somehow in my dream I was seeing these posts as a painting.
Hey, you,
though the Vedas are ancient, I don't think they are dated or irrelevant.
But I agree with you, it is really wonderful when we can openly question the truths in them.
We should always be able to experience the freedom of questioning their authority, or the authority of any book in that matter.
If something allows you to exercise such a strength, then it really empowers manifestation of truth.
Many of the religions do not want you to question their authority.
i like your input on the conversation me and figseed were having. I left her a comment back, so I though I'd copy it over here for you:
You're right that the Vedas are not related to any religion. They are a pure science, the result of research done over thousands of years. I mainly just wanted to clear the air about some misconceptions people have about the ancient and sacred knowledge held within those verses. Even though I am vegetarian, I choose to defend those who eat meat because I don't believe in one path being more "right" or righteous than another. Those who criticize others for such practices, I feel, are choosing only to expose uncertainty in their own beliefs. This idea is what I feel the Vedas are all about; we can choose which path is right for ourselves, but to say what path is right for another is somewhat foolhardy. Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Mulsim, Jew, we all seek the same.

But, I will take up this challenge and will write something,
I will send it to you only on the condition
that you honestly tell me what you think.
How is that?
Is talking way too much one of your "bad habits" you mentioned earlier?
Before you decide to end this one too, please let me read some of your poems.
You write, don't you?
I like the titles you have chosen for your new pics, and some of the old ones too.
There is only one danger, though.
You may find yourself speechless, surrounded by all
the ancient, timeless beauty.
:-)
