I do know a bit about German Shepards and other powerful breeds because even though my dogs are small they have the same "high energy" and needs of huskies, shepards, etc. They don't have the aggression that some powerful breeds can have, because they were not bred to fight (like some... rotweillers, pit bulls, German Shepards, etc.), but I am educated on those breeds because any dog can develop those traits if its needs are not met.
With a GS, I would just REALLY make sure to give LOTS of exercise, discipline, and then affection.... in that order. They have a lot of energy, if not released in the proper way, can manifest in behavior problems. Dogs are meant to travel. They are pack animals. So many dogs that are out of control (especially stronger breeds) are not getting their needs met in this area. They need to walk, often and every day. It's how they release energy. Just as people need movement as well or can become unbalanced.
Also, you must be a strong pack leader :). They need to know you are boss or they will try to call the shots….. that’s just a dogs nature within a pack. Check out Cesar Milan videos before getting a dog. He’s fantastic and shows that it's relly about training the human.. not the dog, haha.
With a powerful breed I would also do obedience training classes for fun, to bond and socialization for the dog. I would make sure the dog was used to being around other dogs to avoid dog aggression (which is also a normal reaction among different dog packs if they are used to just being with only people ot you).
A lot of people think they are going to get the perfect, easy going dog... but in reality, most dogs need lots of attention and discipline in order to be happy and balanced :).

- Sure! They are Alaskan Klee Kais :). They are a rare breed and are basically a miniature Alaskan husky, although they look more like little Siberian Huskies. They are not the breed for everyone... just to let you know :).
Here are some of the factors to consider: they have a double coat because they are a northern breed, so they blow their coat twice a year. Lots of shedding. If you don't like animal hair beware! I keep a lint roller in my car, bedroom, kitchen, etc., lol! They are a high energy breed... they come from lines of dogs meant to "work"...pull sleds, etc., so they need A LOT of exercise. If you are outdoorsy and can give them long walks, run every day..great! They are extremely attached to their "pack". That would be you :). So if you work all day... not the dog for you as they will not be happy alone all day at home...you may come home to a very stressed dog or chewed up couch :)~. I work from home so my dogs are always with me and have each other when I leave them alone :). They also are very timid with strangers... not aggressive, just shy, and they need lots of socialization. If you want a dog that loves and licks everyone to death, these dogs are not it. They are very loving with their pack, but not people they don't know. They will get LOTS of attention. If you don't mind, wonderful! But if it would annoy you to constantly be stopped by people, get really educated on the breed and answer lots of questions... not the right dog.
So why get am AKK? They are extremely docile and loving with their pack. They are great with other animals, esp. if raised with from a puppy. They are small (so can go everywhere with you, travel, etc.), but have a "big dog personality/energy", so they can go hiking, running, etc. and not be tired after 15 min. They are extremely smart and great companions :).
Hope that helps!! Oh, and they are very expensive and require an application and wait on a waiting list (they are rare, and a female usually only has 1-4 pups a litter :)... so much to consider! Let me know if you have any more questions. I know A LOT about dogs and would love to help with whatever!
