This article from Tonya Kay actually led me to buy a hand crank blender, which works great! http://www.ecohearth.com/eco-blogs/clean-and-green-everyday/670-human-powered-kitchen-appliances.html

I'm not sure yet- I've seen on some blogs where you can take the 4 month course to become a certified nutritionist- I'm thinking of doing that.

hi zoe! i happened upon your most recent blog post and since you love animation (or did, i suppose?) i have to ask - have you seen Waking Life??? one of the coolest animation collaborations! love the feel of it all.

anyway, i saw you were at mcad and looking for like minded friends (and btw your highschool niche sounded like mine! - full of cuddle puddles and the like, and i had a similar problem filling that sense of community), and as im currently in minneapolis i would be happy to shoot the shit over raw, share resources, and connect you with communities im in touch with if you like.

I'm in my happy place :)

I just wanted to share a blog post I made. I'm feeling really happy mentally and physically today, but am moving away from 100% raw. I thought some people might find it interesting... or it's just really exciting for me ;)

http://zpoeschl.blogspot.com/2009/03/thursdays-food-im-in-my-happy-place.html

I feel like I only ever post stuff on this site when I'm in distress and looking for advice, so maybe I can offer up some happiness for once instead :)

Gaining and Losing Friends

Lately I feel like I've been doing a lot of good soul searching and growing a lot. I've turned off the TV, I've been cleaning out all the useless junk that's been accumulating, and been broadening my horizons of what I used to think my life would be. I'm in college right now majoring in animation, but I figured out that I don't want to do animation. I want to be involved in it, but I want to do character design and concept art. That was such a huge discovery for me, really figuring out what I wa… Continue

Portland vs Seattle

I'm so excited, a friend and I just randomly decided to take a trip out to the west coast for Spring Break!

But we're having trouble deciding between Portland and Seattle. I want some good food, but I also want access to some fun stuff to do. She's not a raw fooder, but is definitely open to trying new places.

So anyone have an opinion on Portland vs Seattle?

Let it snow

The snow is falling in great, white, fluffy flakes. I just finished off some apple slices with almond butter (raw, of course). I'm listening to some soft, jazzy piano music, which also happens to be Christmas music. I feel very at peace and happy.
I wish everyone could see the view I have sitting here. My bedroom has three walls of windows, which adds to the serenity of the snow fall. It's so unbelievably pretty.

I just felt like sharing my peace and happiness...

I find it's quicker to make four cuts, scaling the outer skin equally then pulling it away and thumping with a wooden spoon. Plus it's less of a mess and you don't lose any juice because none of the kernels are cut :) There are different varietie...
