Will Power has an incredible rollercoaster story of how he changed a life style of addictions and poor health....into a life of abundance and prosperity. Will grew up in Brooklyn, NY in a family of 9, in Poverty and on welfare and had his first drink at age 8. He began working at age 10 to support his need for extra food and clothes and later his addictions. As a teenager, he knew he had damaged his health since the alcohol led to drugs like marijuana, cocaine and acid. An A student through 10th grade, he began to cut school for over a year and was in a local gang robbing cars and houses while working in various jobs, some of which he later learned were mob related. In fact, most of his friends from his prior lifestyle are either dead or in federal prison to this day. He was inspired by the Sylvester Stallone Movie, "First Blood: in 1982 to join the special forces. The marines recruited him and at 17 and he sobered up temporarily at this major turning point in his life. Despite drinking heavily in the marines, before he was 21 he had traveled the world, graduated near the top of his platoon and other marine schools, was meritoriously promoted, and had 23 parachute jumps. He did go to rehab near the end of his tour and went to college where he ran track and cross country including the NYC Marathon in 3:43:14, and became a college valedictorian with a 3.98 GPA. Unfortunately, his drinking began again when in corporate America where he was working for an elite high profile, demanding Big 4 accounting firm.
His health deteriorated and he gained 70 lbs over the next 8 years. An athletic comeback in 2000 led to injuries and turning back to addictions. Now keep in mind that through the endless cycle of struggle, Will had got his masters degree in business and associate degree in Computers, has been a CPA, a realtor, a Microsoft Developer, an options trader, a company CFO, and a multiple franchise owner, however he still ended up losing most of his life savings and having to start over to rebuild his health. His awakening was the realization that the common thread of all his successes had been his passion for health, fitness, and personal growth while all his setbacks had been the downward spiral of addictive behavior. He diligently went to self development and health seminars and currently trains for Ironman™ Triathlons utilizing primarily organic superfoods and is about 80% Raw. He is currently a Certified Sports Nutritionist. He now publishes health and wellness websites and is working on his second book "Organic Awakening"

hey Will,
how was the camp at Placid? I am doing Placid too. Our last big race (B race) is Tupper, then it's time to taper. I def. won't miss riding on 9W. :)
We rode up to Bear (from Central Park) today as part of our training, and I tried Brendan's receipe for the first time. I thought the agave (1 tbsp) was way too sweet or maybe it was the dates (3)? Next time I will cut down some of the agave. sucks tho coz' we are so close to the IMLP. I am not gonna experiment with different drinks. I will stick to cytomax and carbo pro which was actually working out for me. i also supplement with one mojo bar per loop and a jelly sandwich cut up in my bento box or in the special needs bag and eat it at the begininig of the second loop.
Good luck and be safe. see you on the course.

In Oz we don't have Hammer bars, just the hydration, gels and recoverite. However i will try the hammer bars just to see. The difference is though, th eOrganic bar brand is totally raw, as well as organic. I also saw that Brendan also has a brand of organic and raw bar, i'd like to check them out as well.
ChiRunning is the greatest form of running ever. Youget off th ebike and ChiRun afterwards, it like having a whole load of energy, youcan run fo rages, no worries.

Basically its using the force of gravity and working with your Chi to run with less effort, injury free (lowest impact running ever) and still do P.B's. I have used it in tris since 2 years and it makes a big difference.
Ok Will, train smart, train hard but be safe and keep in on there, lead by example!

Hi Will (neighbor),
Awe shucks..thanks. I was thinking about putting one up where people could see my whole face!
It sounds like you have traveled a long treacherous journey so far.......
"....drinking began again when in corporate America"...well yeah, how is that not surprising???!! I'd find it difficult to blame any conscious soul on that one!! ha!ha! I still don't get the whole 5 day a week 9-5 thing. Humans aren't meant to be in buildings all day! very unhealthy!
You have been through quite a lot! But as you probably know.....it is a a big school down here! Blessings to you and your big garden! I just put in a 84sq' organic garden....(need more space!) I wish the season was longer around here.
Thanks for the comment : ) My dates are posted on 'wendymay.com', I'm debating doing the Georgetown Saloon anymore (I used to play there often)..b/c it's so small, we'll see. Anyway Hope you have a blessed day and maybe see you around!
Peace to you : )
Good on ya mate,
thats interesting info all that. Looks like you have a solid idea and are aware of everything. I reckon with your great attitude and forward thinking, that you can only get better and acheive your goals. You have the ambition, you have the discipline and belief in yourself, and you have the will power (no pun intended!). Don't you just feel great acheiving what you acheive, it makes you feel fighting fit and gives you that reminder of how you was in your more fitter athletic days, as well as during your peak moments in the Marines, i know i certainly feel that way each time accomplishing a hard work out, finishing a hard tri or duathlon or bike race or run.
Yes for the mnaltrodextrin, good idea to avoid it, it is pure crap, and i reckon that the agave nectar has a good osmality as well. I made up my own drink of : purified water, agave nectar, squeezed organic lemon, himalayan pink salt and dates, all blended. Went down real well, no crap in there.
I will check out the Brendan Brazier books, i have not come accross him yet.
I done mooseman half IM in 2005, it was a tough course, wet and windy all day, but enjoyed the swim.
I done also in 2005 the NYC olympic tri, great course as well.
Are you doing the lake placid training camp with Troy Jacobson? He's a mate of mine from my USA days, and holds every year those camps. He's a genuine guy as well.
Will, keep on as you are doing, you will acheive your goals and become all that you want to be.
Enjoy your upcoming challenges, and learn from each so that you become wiser and prepared for the next challenge. I'd be real happy to hear how you progress and come through. And being a Clydesdale, althoug hi couldnt even imagine how it is (i'm only 146 lbs), i do understand the levle of competition in that division; real hard going and tough guys, so tough it out and keep on in there.
Good on ya mate

If you have juicer (best yield comes with non centrifugal) then try juicing ginger root and adding it to either warm or hot water to drink. I use use ginger and cayenne a lot especially in winter as the are both circulatory stimulants and therefor...
