There is a great book called "Adrenal Fatigue" by james Wilson. Get it, LOL! Seriously, it's such a good book!
Things that are helping me with mine are 6 caps/day of Nutricology Adrenal Cortex extract, Country Life Coenzyme B complex and I'm about to start taking Pure Essence Labs Energy Plus (an adrenal tonic with a lot of Chinese herbs- no stimulants). I get them all at Vitacost.com for cheap.
Also, this is something a lot of people ( including myself!) don't like hearing, but it can be hard to heal adrenals on a vegetarian diet and almost impossible on a vegan diet. I don't know what your diet is like, but I will say that adding some animal products in ( for me, more eggs, some goat dairy, pastured butter, fish and yes- after 16 years- small amounts of grass-fed meat) has helped tremendously and I know a number of people from this site who have had the same experience as me.
I don't know what it is about those proteins, but they seem to have an affinity for the adrenals.
I'm not sure how much- I'd just experiment with the dosage. You can use it for extended periods (months) but I'd still take a break form it for a few days every once in awhile.
It is considered "hot" and very yang, so I'd be aware that it could potentially exacerbate any heat in the body- if your tongue starts to look very red on the tip and sides or your eyes look a bit bloodshot, or if you have a hard time falling asleep due to feeling hot (esp in the hands and feet), it might be overheating you.
I'd avoid hot and spicy foods if that happens and I'd add some yin herbs like black sesame seeds, seaweed, Fo-Ti to balance it out. Cooling foods like cucumber and celery would be good, too.
Het Tyler! I used 3000 mg/day of glutamine. The dose is 3-6000 mg/day. I also used Deer Antler Velvet tablets (Planetary Formulas) which are a source of IgF and very healing to the gut. No deer are harmed;)
I don't know much about TMG other than for high homocysteine levels. Beta glucan is a good immune system booster. FOS is "food" to help good gut bacteria to multiply. Some people don't tolerate it, though.
Thanks for clarifying. Yes, I dont believe candida is a problem on the whole. The important thing here is to realise that candida only feeds on excess sugar, rather than sugar per se. It doesnt matter if we consume fat, protein or carbs as our main source of calories, Whatever we consume the food will be broken down into glucose, ie. sugar, becausr that is all our cells run on. Problems come about when there is more sugar in the blood stream than we can get out at any given time via insulin.
This can occur because:
1) We are consuming food in excess of our requirements.
2) We are consuming excess fat.
3) We are consuming refined sources of foods eg. dried fruits, fruit or vegetable juices.
Candida is not our enemy but a lifesaving mechanism. Our body allows candida to reside in our bodies specifically because it can consume sugar as its main source of sustainment. So if our bodys blood sugar levels are dangerously high at any given moment, and our pancreas and adrenals are unable to deal with the load, candida can act as a secondary safety mechanism. If our blood sugar levels remain too high, we can go into a coma, even die, very quickly. Candida is literally a life-saver. The problem is that these sort of situations should be rarities...once a fortnight, once a month, or a few days a month or every few months. However when this is the norm (as it has been for most people for most of their lives, and continues to be when they eat raw) candida is given an inexhaustible amount of fuel, so it proliferates exponentially. If you take away its fuel source however, you take away the problem. So if you take away the possible for sugar to reamin in our blood stream for too long, theres no problem. Keep your fat intake low, consume only truly whole food sources of fruits and vegetables, no juices or dried foods, exercise regularly and eat only as much as you need to, based on your caloric and nutrient needs.
Brian clements work is based on people coming from a high fat high sugar diet, either cooked or raw. high fat high sugar = candida, chronic fatigue and cancer.
Im not really sure why you emailed me exactly as you didnt explain. are you wanting reassurance? Im not really sure what to say. All of his arguments are flawed in my opinion. There were posts on this recently.
I do sympathise. Its a minefield, but thats why I believe you simply have to be armed. You have to be able to think critically, and understand where the inherent flaws are in peoples arguments. I dont believe fruit is a problem with cancer. All brian clements work is based on refined IV sugar, which is completely different to whole food fruit sources of sugars. I do not recommend refined sources of fruits or vegetables or any other kind of refined sugar. Juices, syrups, dried fruits or vegetables...these are not good ideas. The fibre is important. Tonnes of research has shown that fruit is the number one most important factor in a cancer prevention diet and even in supporting cancer treatment, because of the hundreds of phytochemicals, anti-oxidants and anti-cancer compounds. Intra-venous sugar is not an indication of how whole fruit sugar will react in the body. In any way shape or form.
Hmmm...so basically I should be asking santa for a wheatgrass juicer?? haha...I've been hesitant about these wheatgrass powders..but I'll most likely have to stick to those to start..are any of them better then the rest??
Its just in my opinion, dark green leafy vegetables, ie. whole foods, are much better than dried supplemental foods. I think if you've planned your diet well enough, and you know youre getting more than enough nutrients, then you're not likely to need concentrated supplements. Chlorella is percieved anecdotally by others to be better than spirulina for b12 activity, so this would seem to be the better option, but the jury is out on both really, so I personally stay away from them.
Maca affects hormones which in my opinion cannot be a good thing. Hormones should not be altered in any way shape or form as they are so sensitive and so specific. Im not a big maca fan for that reason.
Do you mind if I ask why you've been consuming spirulina? I wouldnt recommend you do so anyway really. Its got B12 analogues in it...ie. they block the b12 receptor sites without doing the B12 job, so they can cause a deficiency in this way. I think if youre going to use algaes, chlorella is probably the better option, though even that is potentially a b12 analogue, its just it seems to be a better option in that many people have noticed positive improvements in their B12/mma status.
If its breaking you out in spots, perhaps just give it a break. You can always rely on green leafys instead to get your greens, a much better option than powdered versions imo
I really believe that is possible to heal all of the body...regeneration of tissue is not a far fetched concept. There is a case of a man who re-grew a finger, recently! I have to dig to find the article, but I read it on naturalnews.com. Mind you...
i can understand american accent, i have been working with them for quite a while
my ear is not tuned to ause accent yet, i guess you are my first ause friend to talk with :)
but i am gonna catch up soon
I've started this group in order to find and link with people who eat raw food in and around London too. We can share ideas and books, meet up for potlucks and even go out for meals together
