Heyy,
It's okay, I've been a little busy too. I have a big family (four brothers, two sisters, 1 sister and brother in law and parents), so I have a lot of people to buy Christmas presents for. You do have Christmas, right?
90%? That's awesome, Thomas! You're almost there (and even if you didn't get to 100%, 90% is still a pretty damn good place to be!). It sounds like raw food is settling into your life very naturally.
That's awesome that you found another raw foodie.
Thanks for the feather idea, I've been meditating on it today and yesterday- I'll let you know when I find a feather!
I understand the fear of being cut off.
I have found that if I keep an open additude, my real friends and I have stayed connected. Of course, there were a number of people who rejected me for it, but I don't think they were good friends to have if they're just going to ditch me because I eat different food (and I don't push it on people, so I don't understand yet why that happened). My best friend is a junk food junkie, but she is also recovering from a horrendous eating disorder, so I am so happy that she loves herself enough to eat that I don't care that she eats junk food (not that I would bug her about it if she weren't).
Right now, I just made a junk-food ginger bread house with my brothers, and I wasn't tempted to eat any at all (actually, it looked kind of gross to eat. Pretty to look at, though). I have to cook food for my brothers every other day (when my mom works in the evenings) and I haven't felt tempted to eat any yet (except once, but I still didn't eat any). It's hard to get used to first, but then it all works out eventually.
Right now I'm listening to Regina Spektor (a song that I hadn't heard before) and it's really weird (but I like it anyways). What kind of music do you listen to?
That's sad that you missed the Rawkathon. There were some REALLY fabolous speakers. David Wolfe and Gabriel Cousens were my favorites. If you ever have the chance, look them up on youtube. Lots of good info.
Alright, I've gotta go (dinner time).
I hope you have a good day!

Sorry for taking forever replying. I've had a pretty busy week.
Your job sounds awesome.
Omigod, I know! David Wolfe's interview was awesome. I always love listening to him speak (btw did you see his video on shoes?). I would love to start drinking better water, but I don't have access to spring water right now. I think I'm going to add "perfect water" to my list of affirmations that I meditate on. Are you familiar with the philosophy of the laws of attraction? Basically, it's the belief that like attracts like. If you are bitter, bitter things will be attracted to you. If you are joyful, joyful things will be attracted to you. Kind of like karma but different. Theoretically, according to the philosophy, if you meditate on something you really want in your life, it will be attracted to you. Lately, that's been my main way of making positive lifestyle changes, so far it's working for me.
Social issues are sticky!
At first, it seemed like everyone had to have a strong opinion about my diet/lifestyle. Some people were like "Wow! Can you show me how to make green smoothies?" and other people are like "You don't eat cooked food!? Well, that's just stupid." (even though I was healing and regaining mobility)
What I've found, is that overtime the amusement is over. Eventually the newness wears off to the people around you and they become focused on other things.
I've noticed that, maybe subconsciously, everyone in my family is eating healthier. My sister is making green smoothies for herself and her husband. My sister in law, brother and best friend are trying to cut out red meat. My dad, soon-to-be-sister-in-law and little brothers became vegetarian, and they eat about 50% raw food. My mom is eating about 80% raw food and vegan. My grandparents are eating about 70% raw food and vegan. My cousin is going to start 90-100% raw foods starting in January. It's amazing to see the transformations that are happening.
The biggest challenge that I faced socially was with my friends.
I used to have a terrible additude about life, maybe because of my disability. I was maybe a little bitter- very judgemental and very religious. The friends that I hung out with had the same additude that I had, which definitely did not help. After being raw, making life changes, healing from the inside out and starting to enjoy life again- I became a whole new person. I left my religion (a different story for a different msg), I started accepting other people, and I started loving myself, other people and the world. I'm literally an entirely different person. My friends and I don't get along the way we used to, and I've realized that that's okay. I stopped hanging out with nearly all of my old friends, except for two.
I was getting sort of lonely, so I started praying and meditating for a new friend. My friend (who I unfortunately didn't get to hang out with much because she is in school and I am currently homeschooled) called me to tell me that she was homeschooling 3 days a week and had some time to come over and hang out. So she came over the next day and we instantly became best friends. She pretty much lives at my house now (not really, but she's here a lot).
What are your concerns with the social aspect of raw foods?
Did you watch the rawkathon (it was on a few months ago) or Kevin Gianni's health show? I love his show because he takes one lifestyle change at a time and talks about it in a real rational way. You would love it! www.therenegadehealthshow.com
I hope you're having a good day!

Hey Thomas!
I had enrolled myself in a program develop by a fellow Australian of yours.
Brilliant awakening of consciousness occurring, thought you might enjoy it.

I'm in to music in so many ways. I love indie rock, dance, house, funk, rap. I don't listen to the radio, so not really anything popular. How about you? You like music?
Let me know as soon as you have a blog set up!
Isn't Steve Pavilina the guy who wrote the post "You Know You're a Raw Foodist When..."? I thought it was really funny.
Interestingly, I've been feeling down these last few days myself.
My best advice is to listen to your body. I used to crave oils and fats (nuts, seeds, avocados, coconuts) when I first went raw. I was eating them in massive quanitities and feeling great up until about a week and a half ago. My theory is that it was because I had to rebuild several nerves and I needed the extra fats.
Now, the same foods are making me feel awful and I'm more hungry for light foods like tomatoes, spinach and apples. I ate a lot of dehydrated foods this week (for thanksgiving) and I've been feeling awful. I'm feeling better today, and I'm eating a lot lighter too.
Generally, heavy foods (although in small quantities) are good detox foods. A moderate amount of nuts and seeds generally slow the detox down (if it gets to be too much). Bananas and avocados are supposed to be good for that too.
Celery juice is good for supporting your liver while you are detoxing. Spinach juice is a natural detoxifier (It actually pulls heavy metals out of the body), so that might be good, too.
If you are up for a juice or water fast, those are always really great for cleansing.
I hope you feel better soon!
Namaste,
Bethany
Thanks for posting! I went to the dentist today and was absolutely delighted when I heard the dentist comment to the hygenist, "she has beautiful teeth, doesn't she?"
WOW! Coooool! Haha, all thanks to raw food!!!
Yeah! I have been getting into apples big time, and discovering new ones that I have not tried before like the Honey Crisps! I always like the Gala too great for raw recipes!
Thank you for your positive words everyone. I've been raw for 8 months and it was simply dissappointing to have gone through such a binge! Besides I felt physically awful!
Onward we march from here! lol
