You're suppose to be able to pick the leaf out of the middle - and it comes out realllllllll easy - if it's ripe.

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...

Nice to find you here. You don't know me, but I've listened to your raw radio and it is fantastic. I'll have to visit your site soon as I haven't been there in awhile, and see what new things you have up your sleeve.
