Be careful and do your research - I am going though the same thing. There are scientists/chemists that say there is no way possible to alkalize water to the point where we really benefit from it - but there are quite a few companies that are makin...

Check out a local nursery - they will be able to point out which plants grow better in your climate and offer tips as well. I grow quite a bit in pots (in Cali) and pot growers (hee!) need to remember that plants grown in pots dry out much quicker...

It was something I had never experienced before - like I said, I have never restricted myself food-wise (but never had any really "bad" habits either) and so to feel this slight twinge of "nuh-uh..." was funny... And very interesting about the di...

I just do not see where a little treat here and there is bad. Last time I got too strict with myself it created a major binge that went on a long time. Now I just eat as good as I can and call it all good. love kim

Great topic and enlightening responses... Ashwin - I am still new and learning, so I don't have much to offer in advice except: tune in to your body, your needs, your emotions as much as you can... Angus, you always have something good to share -...

Wow - pretty exciting, to be able to create your dream kitchen based on raw foods and higher conscience... I worked for a designer who drove me nuts with all the unnecessary (read: expensive) "crap" he would put in them. It was all about showy app...

That bag of popcorn? That lovely, cheesy bag of Trader Joe's popcorn that I know so well - that bag I have eaten at least three times a month/once a week - as in THE WHOLE BAG - yes, I've eaten a bag at one sitting - happily too, I might add...

I've never been a binger, or a chip-eater, and I'm not sure why this behavior started up in my forty-first year of my life... I never felt horri… Continue

WATER ALKALIZERS - opinions & experience wanted!

....um.... what the title said.

I think want to purchase one, but am unsure because... well... it seems like everyone has SOMEthing to sell these days! Then there are the "studies" that are conducted (by the manufacturers!), and then some of the companies are pyramid schemes... talk about a funny taste in my mouth.

So, what are your experiences with these water alkalizing systems? Are they worth the money?

Here are the names I have seen: Tyent, Jupiter, Enagic, Life Inonizers and there… Continue

Green Star comparisons anyone?

* I'M NEW * I'M NEW * I'M NEW * I'M NEW * .......and I have questions!

This juicer thing: I am looking to invest in a new one. I'm pretty set on Green Star, as it juices everything, and their reputation and quality appear hard to beat.

My question goes out to all you gear heads/juice fantastics out there...

Correct me if I'm wrong: All of the Green Star juicers - the 1000, the 2000, the 3000 - all are the same machine. The only difference being the attachments for bread/pasta/toaster-cozy mak… Continue

Advice for digestion/fasting?

I'm new, and while I am making a sincere effort to eat more raw foods, I am not totally 100% raw. (I hate labels & definitions anyway.)

Yesterday I indulged (sister's engagement) and drank champagne & wine (about 3 glasses total all day). I brought my lovely sprouted garbanzo hummus and celery, but had some processed foods: a few rice chips and corn chips with my sister's homemade salsa, a pesto made with roasted macadamias, and orzo with the spinach/tomato/pesto salad I am famous for.… Continue

If you're interested in making water kefir, I can sell you some grains for $10. If you take care of your grains, you will be able to make water kefir for the rest of your life, and the grains will multiply so you can give them away/sell them. It is super easy to do, I can send you instructions with your grains if you like.
