Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
Simply, avocado and mango. Complexly, Red Beet Ravioli.

I've read a lot out of these genres: Romantic poetry (Blake is my favorite), Shakespeare, Eastern, Social-Political and Feminist philosophy, Southern literature (Faulkner, O'Connor, McCarthy). A Brief History of Time (Hawking), Blood Memory (Martha Graham's autobiography), books about plants, animal psychology, cosmology, yoga, Pilates, cook and raw books, exercise and physiology. Getting juicy...

Today I went all out on the juicing front. Three mixes:
#1 was a green juice, consisting of cucumber, celery, lemon, lime, ginger, parsley, cilantro, and apple.
#2 a fruity blend of tangerine, blood orange, apple, carrot, ginger, and lemon.
#3 simple cantaloupe juice.

This week I made Shannon Marie's cinnamon twists with icing and raspberries and it was to die for! The icing is pure raw crack. Even if you don't have a dehydrator or time to make the twists, the icing is a great stand-alone recip… Continue

Fun in the kitchen

It's been a while since I've made anything in the way of the more time-consuming raw recipes, so today I'm taking time to play. Making a quadruple batch of Juliano's sprouted buckwheat pizza crust, made hummus a la orange (also from Juliano's "RAW"), experimenting with chickpea patties or bread from leftover materials. Putting some sweet potato and zucchini chips in the dehydrator. Also made some green juice with celery, cucumber, parsley, lime, apple, and ginger, and a sweet juice of carrots, a… Continue

Starting the new year off right.

I decided to give 2008 a healthy start with a New Year's Day juice fast. I began on New Year's Eve by cleaning the house, emptying a few closets of clutter and unused stuff. Setting aside things to donate or give to friends. Getting a walk in on the treadmill and some yoga. I finished the day with a nice raw dinner: zucchini and sweet potato pastas with "alfredo" sauce, and I enjoyed a champagne toast at home with my husband. I sort of liked the lack of big events, spending it much as any other… Continue

Hey! Yes- those pics are from my MI trip:) I was thinking about our little Nashville group- we need to have another get together. A new guy joined recently- we'll have to invite him. I need some inspiration to get fully back on the wagon after my trip, if you know what I mean;-)
How are you, by the way?
