Regina! We have so much in common! I grew up in WIlmington, DE and went to Philly all the time, and I'm a mother of two and I am going to write a children's book (someday...when I get around to it)
As for downtown Chicago, I don't get in an as often as I should and when I do it's for an audition. I'm making that my goal this year, to get down to the park more in the summer. It's so nice to meet you!
You didn't by any chance work at the one owned by Mickey and Susan Baer, did you?. I used to go there all the time. The name is escaping me right now...so much for raw foods giving me clarity of thought :)
Regina! Where did you live in Oak Park? I was at East ave and Madison. I miss that place.
The pumpkin pie soup is ridiculously good. Here's the recipe and my modifications:
4 cups carrot juice ( I use about 2 cups to make it thicker)
1 cup raw sweet potato
4 dates, pitted
1/2 avocado
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
it's not in the recipe but I add a packet of stevia
Sorry... I had to look it up.
Sauce Recipe:
2 tbls Olive Oil
1/2 cup chopped tomato
1/2 cup sun dried tomato's
1/2 cup red pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp garlic
dash of salt

my magic bullet burnt out, it was good for travelling while I had it though. Can you get a second hand blender? The cheaper ones I have used don't chop up the greens as well. Try to get something with a higher wattage, like 1000watt.

"Fashionista's" simply look at Fashion as an Art, their own bodies as the canvas, and the sense of style they develop along the way is simply the masterpiece.
