I am the founder and owner of PivotPointe Media Group in San Diego, California, a creativity-based, socially- and environmentally-active publishing, production, and training company. Among other things, I'm the creator and co-author of "The Backstage Gourmet Cookbook: Favorite Vegetarian Recipes from the World of Music," which features recipe contributions from Dudley Moore, Dennis Weaver, Kitaro, Keiko Matsui, The Ventures, Junior Marvin (Bob Marley & the Wailers), Nancy Rumbel, Bill Ward (Black Sabbath), Mike Pinder (Moody Blues), and more. Too, I'm a veteran radio person, including hosting, producing, writing, editng, and promoting AM/FM/Internet shows. One of the eco-programs, "Global Gig...Music for the Planet," featured guests like Ed Begley, Jr., Ted Danson, Linda Blair, Rue McClanahan, Olivia Newton-John, Edward James Olmos, Richie Havens, Kirstie Alley, and Woody Harrelson and their Earth-saving efforts and campaigns. Currently I'm the host /writer/co-producer of "The Backstage Gourmet Radio Show" on HealthyLife.Net, which airs Mondays, 1- p.m. Pacific Time. Our theme is "Great green cuisine meets great global music." Victoria (Moran) was my special guest this week and was sparkling and informative. I'm also a former newspaper editor, writer, and photographer. My background/education/experience is in Community/Clinical Psychology, arts & entertainment, the environment/animals/nature, Early Childhood Education/Child Development, entrepreneurship. For over 30 years, I've worked with a variety of causes, including the environment, animal rights, and violence against girls and women. I've headed up rape/sexual assault and suicide 24-hour crisis hotlines and worked on benefit albums and concerts for VAW educational and fundraising efforts. I launched Violence Against Women: Reclaiming Your Spirit last year, based on a sourcebook by the same name I'm penning. There's a Web site going up soon at www.vawreclaimyourspirit.com, and we presented a conference in English and Spanish in November to help women and girls who have been subjected to violence move forward from victim to survivor to thriver.
