Exactly what you said about the bitterness. Wet the mate with cold water first, then add the hot water. Makes all the difference. The unroasted has a bit more of a grassy taste to me.

I think the only time mate was ever bitter tasting was when I got it in a cafe. Its has its own natural sugars in it but its not noticeably sweet. could be the difference between cold steeping it first. Its really good with a itsy pinch of vanilla...

I really like roasted dandelion tea. I realize it is not raw but if you are trying to get off coffee I think this is a great substitute. If you steep it long it definitely has the bitter coffee taste, in a good way. And bonus because it is actuall...

Yerba mate is great for this - it is stimulating but doesn't have caffeine. It also is a mood enhancer like alcohol. It doesn't taste very good so you need to add rose hips, mint, cinnamon, etc to snaz it up!

hey, how is this going for you? I'm doing a similar cleanse/cut back or lifestyle change. I do tend to break from things now and then as my room mate and I home brew beer and every batch must be tasted. But otherwise, I've cut back to a couple gla...

fasting

OK today is the beginning of day 2 of my fast.
Yesterday consisted of water, 1 glass of master cleanse lemonade, and 1 glass of green juice.
So far I have had 1 glass of master cleanse lemonade, and am drinking a laxative tea to help ease my tummy.
I constantly wake up with pain in my back. I dont know if this is from poor kidney function or from constipation from binge eating. Either way I am fasting to help solve this issue. I am also trying to re-establish a healthy relationship with food.

Hi Nicole,
Thank you sooo much for the very sweet and informative post. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner... but I just saw this on here... haven't checked my page in awhile. Congratulations on doing something amazing for your health!!! It sounds like getting your mercury fillings out has really made a difference for you. That's something, especially about the facial twitching. How it got worse and then went away. Oh, by the way, was it horribly, horribly expensive? I only have 3 and I guess it's worth it no matter what, but hopefully it isn't too bad (I'm guessing about a grand a tooth???) If you go to a holistic dentist, does your insurance cover it at all? Wow - I've seen stuff on Youtube about mercury fillings but not evaporating from someone's tooth!!! To me, that makes it a total no-brainer!!! How can anyone doubt it when you see that? But I guess they will still fight and claim that it doesn't hurt us. Anyway, you are so right about being very careful about how to go about it. I am planning on calling a holistic dentist soon who uses non-mercury fillings and start there. Thanks for all of the suggestions about what to take. I am really excited about having this done!!!
Love, joy grace and peace,
Karen

hey girl thanks for the response. that juice does sound good, i have been making her green lemonade but that just takes it to a whole new level doesn't it lol!! hey i know you said you were really dehydrated and this happened to me too from not drinking water in bikram yoga. my colon therapist gave me this product called "e-lyte," it's like concentrated electrolytes that you mix with water or whatever and it helps ALOT. i bet they sell it online if you google it, its a lifesaver.

Hey Nicole, just saw some of your posts in the Natalia Rose group. I am really sad to hear you had a bad experience with colonics because I have always had really positive ones. Sorry you didn't have such a pleasant one! Anyway, I just think it's so awesome that you had a phone consultation with Natalia. I emailed her once and she emailed back and I thought I was so cool for a day lol :) I've always wanted to do the phone consultation but it is sooo expensive. Do you really feel like it helped you alot? I am so curious, let me know.
Have a great day!

Hey, lady. I noticed your post on the forums and thought I'd give you a squeezy e-hug.

How long have you been trying to eat raw? I had SERIOUS rage issues when I went full on raw. I've had to readjust myself. I try to be raw first, then cooked vegan, then vegetarian. I had a burger recently and I DID NOT LIKE IT THAT MUCH, but damn, it felt good to have that power to make one choice regardless of how bad it may be. I think sometimes life gets so overwhelming that we use food to have some kind of control over SOMETHING.

Be gentle with yourself, chica. Even if you do eat something crappy, you're probably leagues beyond what you USED to eat on a daily basis.

Also, about the colonic - it sounds with all the number two coming out, wine, and chocolate, you got severely dehydrated. Guzzle some water. :) Good luck!

Hey girl! I broke the fast yesterday afternoon by eating grapefruit and orange...citrus stuff, which is still very cleansing. Glad to be done, lol. :) How's it going for you?

hey nicole, the "80/10/10" post was getting kind of full so i thought i would just reply to your page instead. i just recently read arnold erhet's book, "the mucusless diet" and am very interested in hearing about anyone's experience thriving on predominantly fruits and greens. i've heard of 80/10/10 but don't know the specifics. i am trying to experiment with fresh juice, green salads and fruit. i hope you keep us posted on your progress as much as possible, it is motivating!

Anyone know of a dehydrator that really gets the job done for a really good price. (Somewhere under $80 maybe, or am I being too unrealistic?)

That's what I had. I used it for 10 hours once(was recommended by the instructions). It melted the plastic. It was a waste of $40
