Been raw about 5 or 6 months and its been quite a journey. I'm a student at UC Davis, majoring in Animal Biology and Spanish. I one day want to work with captive exotics (making their little caged lives better hopefully). Maybe as a vet, maybe a behaviorist/researcher, maybe a trainer... who knows. In the meantime I am ridiculously busy, if I am on here, it probably means I am avoiding something more important that I should be doing :)

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity." - Albert Einstein
Horses are a Great love for me and my daughter Kaylee. I posted some pictures of her riding, take a look. I also posted a video clip of her trainer Mary as well.
Hi Megan! When I stumbled across your "raw animals" group, I knew it was for me! I am an animal rescuer and activist, lover of all animals (dogs are my particular passion!), and volunteer and board member of my local humane society where I adopted my "baby" nearly seven years ago. He is also raw -- but he's on a raw omnivore diet (well, mostly carnivore -- what can I say!). I'm going to join your group immediately and would love to add you as a friend. Happy holidays! Diana
I'd really like to know more about your raw mexican food! seems like I keep running across your raw nachos ( I have a version of them too, but I'd love to know yours!) .... tamales? corn tortillas? any help would be appreciated!
Gosh i love horses too. I grew up in Florida and my elementary school science teacher / english tutor (my family had recently moved from Venezuela) had some friends with an amazing ranch, lots of horses and lots of happy cattle roaming around. Big fields and woodsy too. I loved just taking the horses out and riding as fast as possible; there's nothing like feeling the power of those beautiful graceful creatures right beneath you. I haven't been out riding in a while... do you recommend any places in LA?
I'm also not 100% strict right now, though maybe one day. I'm so pleased to find people here that are at least interested in similar values and ways of being in the world. I hardly remember how I found this site but its been such a treasure over the past few weeks. I will be throwing a raw-ish potluck-ish get together next Saturday if you would like to come and then heading over to the co-ops for some nighttime entertainment. My friend tells me they're having 4 stages for bands and lots of cool stuff.
Hey there Megan! I go to UC Davis too :) We should definitely meet up some time and swap tips. (Though as you've been raw much longer than I have you might be more helpful than I will.) Anyway, let me know when you're around.

Right on, another UC Davis student! I did my undergrad there and now am at the med school in Sac. I miss the farmer's market in Davis (it has such a great atmosphere but it's so expensive!). If you haven't already you check the one out in Sacramento during the summer time when it is loaded with cheap yummies.
Hi Megan! When I was growing up we had an aviary off of our porch with a bunch of English canaries as well as other pets. My parents are dog breeders and just had a great litter from cryopreserved sperm that was from a male champion the had a few years ago. That would be a neat thing for you to look into in your schooling becuse to save species we are going to have artificially reproduce them more and more. The other thing that is really important is to also produce food sources for them if their habitat is disappearing. Good luck with everything- it sounds like you have some very fascinating things in your future!
how did your cal and chem test go? sorry, it took me like a week to reply! I'm not good at quickly replying people's comments! haha. you're lucky you live in CA! I live in Houston, tx so the farmers markets here don't have much variety..I'm actually taking my friend to a raw food restaurant tomorrow yay. i have never been I hope it's good. Or else my friends is going to hav a bad impression of this whole raw foods thing haha.
