I don't do well with any of the tropical fruits either, unless I include (raw) dairy.

So celery as the only green? I've tried lettuce, bokchoy, spinach, mint, all with no success. I haven't with pear or apple, I will next time. I've never made one with superfoods, don't think I'll start right now.

Emma, are there any fruits you find that mix well with vegetables in smoothies and juices? I tried eating a salad on thursday with (organic orange) bell pepper and (organic) tomato, and it upset my stomach. I was thinking greens or veges and non-s...

About Me:
I am embarking on the change to raw with utter intrigue and enthusiasm but i must admit, with a touch of fear as to whether i can withold this wonderous regime to the necessary limits....i guess time will tell

I am a pastry chef by trade. I am surounded by food on a daily basis and have some concerns as to whether i will sustain the raw food thang but so far so very good.

I live in France with my french hubby and our 2 french dogs. I have lived in France now for over a decade and can not imagine living anywhere else now to be honest. We have the chance and good fortune to live in a little paradise on the water's edge. Bliss.

I am thoroughly enjoying jotting all my learnings/recipes/wonderings on my Raw blog too.....I find it very theraputic in an odd kind of way :0)

Inspiring start to the day.........

At 07.05 this morning, I got up and looked out the window to see this amazingly red array of colours in the sky beyond the trees. I decided there and then that I had to be there....outside to see it's full beauty. So I got dressed and ran down to the terrace and it took my breath away (only regret was that in my haste to get out I forgot to pick up my camera and didn't get a photo sadly....next time).

We went down to the beach (me, Lili and Patxi) and I just sat there soaking up the beauty of t… Continue

Phew!! Back home at last......

I have just got back from visiting family and friends in GB and in tuther part of France where Hubby's family lives. As much as we enjoyed ourselves and had a wonderful time visiting and having fun, I am also SO happy to be back at our pad so I can get back to my RAW lifestyle without the guilt/pressure/scrutiny from thoses who don't quite understand it all.

Don't get me wrong, we have loving and caring family, but, due to them mostly not understanding or wanting to understand the whole 'RAW' t… Continue

Hey Loulou!

Did I miss your b-day? Happy belated!!! (Or, um... "Joyeux anniversaire!") Anyway, no, I wouldn't call myself a strict 80-10-10er, but I do feel much better and way more energized on low-fat raw vegan, so I suspect I might be more of a 75-10-15er or something. I'm still in the process of figuring it all out, really. Maybe I will wind up 80-10-10 after it's said & done... just not sure yet. What I did find so far was that, for me, getting at *least* that 10% fat is critical. When I jumped in to try it, I went a little overboard in avoiding fats & now think that was a mistake. Also, in the past 6 weeks or so of trying this, I've discovered lots of satisfying recipes that I didn't know about in the beginning. So, there's definitely a learning curve involved. Time will tell, though!

Best,
-Jim

Hello Loulou,
Unfortunately my skin is still bump-city! I have no idea why. I eat fruit fruit and more fruit, mostly monomeals that are accompanied by lots of greens. *shrugs* Each day I wake up and race to the mirror hoping that by some act of the divine they have disappeared. Maybe tomorrow :) lol

Lou Lou,

Thank you for your kind note. You surely have a way with words, you are beautiful, and if there's any way I can help you as you begin your raw journey please do not hesitate to ask.

HI Lou Lou,
My daughter is living in Paris for the year... she's a student. I will be going over in February for awhile. I'm terrified about trying to stay raw over there.. any suggestions for good restaurants or tips on how to stay healthy while in Paris?

HI Loulou (very cool name, btw!)
thanks! I am a chef in a small town in Ontario, Canada. I see that you're a pastry chef in France! that is so awesome - I used to want to go that route after culinary school, because I had so much more fun making desserts. Decided against it because of the unhealthy nature of traditional pastries, but I still highly respect anyone who does it :)
How long have you been into raw? you must create amazing things! :)

Hi Loulou,
How are you? How is your journey into raw progressing? and your husband? It's getting very wintery here, and I admit to being fed up with the endlessly rainy days and cold. We bought heaters though so now it is not so bad. Silly to sit and shiver when really it is lovely to be warm! Ian and I are off to Glasgow for a week - we have a big country fair to attend with our Skin Foods - I'm looking forward to it. We don't see many people where we are, and its always fun to go and connect with others every so often. Wishing you joy and love of good food and good company!

Yes, they sure are... although it's not as easy to find *special* raw products here, the local organic produce is brilliant and here in Geneva we even have a Raw Pot luck!!! (come down any time to meet up with us :D !!)
Are there any raw foodies around were you live?

Hi Loulou :)

my Dad made the sundryer maybe 10 years ago, just by looking at a picture in a magazine ad! Unfortunately he's passed on now. It's great - although at the moment I haven't had enough sun to use it. It makes the best essene bread, and keep all the bugs off it. I do know dad painted the inside with black eco paint. You could probably do some research on the internet and either find constructed ones or plans. I do love it, the taste and vitality of the food is very different.
