Hello Erica! I feel your desire for balance and empathize with your current situation at home. It's funny you wrote this today- I had 3 people email me today with basically the same question, "How do I find a healthy balance when it comes to food?...

Profile Information

About Me:
I love to read, write, learn, explore new ideas/ theories/ ancient healing/ philosophies/ countries/ cultures/ foods/ music/ nature/ art. Anything new, alive, innovative, challenging, beautiful, creative, unconventional, humorous, inspirational, and/or authentic, I go after and embrace! The world is my playground and I am but a child. :)

I absolutely love being in nature. Even though I live in a big city (which is only temporary, because I say so), I thrive in the wild, among the trees, plants, moss, mud, birds, lakes, ocean, monkeys, lions, tigers, and bears, Oh my! Ok, so maybe the last 3 I enjoy from a distance! But still, nature feeds my soul like nothing else. There is so much natural beauty in this world and I want to bask in the beauty of it all! I have a pretty independent, spontaneous and adventurous side. There's really nothing that I won't explore in this world ...within reason. I mean, I'm not overly tempted to swim in a cage with sharks during feeding time, but anything else, I welcome with a smile. :)

Anything relating to the holistic/ alternative health field is sure to be of interest to me! Service to humanity is fundamental to my purpose, so I'm always reading, researching, and experimenting with the latest superfood or energy healing technique. I figure the more I learn and experience for myself in the field of health and wellness, the more I can help others along their path of personal growth, health, healing and fulfillment on all levels.

Having creative outlets is very important since we are creative beings! All forms of art and music uplift and inspire me! I'd love to have an art show someday. :)

I also love getting creative in the kitchen experimenting with different raw vegan ingredients! I've been a vegetarian my entire life, vegan for the last 5 years and recently made the transition to a mostly raw vegan diet (I'm 80-100% raw most days) which is seriously one of the best choices I've ever made for myself! I feel amazing these days! My mental clarity, level of energy and overall zest for life has gone through the roof! I feel totally alive and ready to surf the waves of life! Whoohoo!!! Bring it on!

I believe there is a field of energy that connects all of creation, that is both holographic and nonlocal. I'm deeply interested in exploring this field and developing my “spiritual” self, which is why I enjoy meditation, connecting with nature, and of course, people of all ages and from all walks of life! People absolutely fascinate me! I feel that every single person has an interesting story to tell and many gifts to share if we only take the time to listen. I take this attitude towards everyone I meet and find it makes life a lot more enjoyable and interesting. :)

(I've had a few people on this site ask me how I pronounce my name, so I thought I'd let you know, for those of you who don't that it's pronounced "lay-ah"... like Princess Leia. :)

I'm also into blogging/ vlogging, so feel free to check me out on youtube or go to http://leijaturunen.blogspot.com/

Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
My favourite raw vegan foods/meals include raw tacos, chocolate "cheese" cake, coconut "cream" pie (any kind of dessert actually...hehe), dehydrated buckwheat pizza crust with zesty marinara sauze, nut "cheese" and "sauteed" veggies, zucchini lasagna, zucchini pasta with basil pesto sauce and "meat" balls, my raw cacao hemp superfood truffles, my "butter" tarts, and basically anything gourmet. I have to admit, I love the raw vegan gourmet cuisine, but I'm just as happy keeping it simple, drinking lots of superfood green smoothies, snacking on fresh, organic, in season fruits, eating big green salads with a yummy raw dressing, tons of sprouts, avocado, and hemp seed. I also love my soaked buckwheat cereal with almond milk, fresh berries and agave (super easy and delicious) and I'll snack on goji berries quite a lot and drink a lot of herbal concoctions, like reishi mushroom, cat's claw, horsetail teas. I'd have to say overall, one of my favourite foods to eat and work with is the young coconut. Mmmm!
Interests (outside of Raw Food):
Smiling, laughing, yoga, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, camping, traveling, painting, photography, drawing, reading, pondering, learning, "unlearning", writing, exploring, growing, evolving, singing, playing, “EPFX-ing”, tree hugging, people hugging, animal hugging, teleporting (ok, maybe not yet, but I'm getting there), talking, connecting, energy balancing, meditating, listening, being, dancing, jumping, prancing, playing, and forever twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom! :)

Choose Love Over Your Ego's Criticisms!

I believe that each and every person on this planet is beautiful, amazing and special! We all have unique and wonderful gifts to share with this world regardless of our physical appearance, job, DIETARY CHOICES and belief systems. In every moment we have the choice to see someone through the eyes of the EGO or through the eyes of LOVE! I choose love, and I talk about this in a couple vlogs I made! Obviously I can't cover everything on this topic (on video) due to youtube restrictions and dwindli… Continue

Where do you find your inspiration?

This blog is “inspired” by my new friend Bradley Will who asked me yesterday, “Where do I find my inspiration?” It seemed challenging to answer this question briefly, so I thought I'd write an article and share my personal thoughts on this topic and invite those of you interested you to share your thoughts as well!

I'm warning you in advance that this blog will most likely run a little long, simply because I like to write in a stream of consciousness manner, so whatever flows out of me, I allow… Continue

Hi Leija,
I was watching your vids, especially the Quantum Biofeedback one. I searched google but couldnt find someone in the Chicago area that does this. I am very interested in getting this work done. Do you know anyone in the Chicago area that does? Would you do it on me if I came to Toronto :)

Hello Leija :)
Do you have a website showcasing more of your beautiful paintings.
I especially love the 'galaxy' paintings, a cross between van goghs starry night and aboriginal painting, amazing :)

Talk me through how you are building up the layers on the canvas, do you add the dot like marks at the end?

Thank you :)

That is a good point Angus. I have found that a lot of fundamentalist religions accuse everyone else of worshiping the devil and it like a blind hysteria- like all these other people have a black bible in their house and secretely worship a statue...
