Hey Lei,
What exactly is permaculture. I would love to see China become more organic. And eat less meat. Meat is not a good staple food when there's too many people compared to the cultivated land. Anyways are you in Qingdao. I'll be going back to China for 6 months in august, maybe you could show me around your town some time. I'd like to go there.
Very cool Lei. I actually am not aware of anyone doing anything in China, but if you search the web you might be able to find someone. Otherwise, you might be able to just read up on it and start applying what you read about and experiment. Australia is where permaculture began with Bill Mollison, but there are some here in the US (CA, AZ, HI, etc.). If you have any particular questions, I'd be happy to assist you as I'm able. Do you have any space where you could grow things?
Ciao, Lei,
It is frustrating to live in a regime of "harmony" with so much hypocrisy. I am interested in exploring the definitions and manifestations of what is a "harmonious" and simultaneously "fashionable" lifestyle? Oh, and now they are giving vouchers to farmers and 13% discounts on retail goods and appliances to encourage poor farmers to want things. There is an article about the vouchers ( http://tinyurl.com/c7yzso ) being distributed in Hangzhou and the mentality of saving in China. Oh. I have wanted to do a performance piece about fashionable, harmonious, simple, and sustainable living. I already maintain a lifestyle here that is very simple but I wish to present something to the public; like living on a boat in the Huangpu that is a sustainable mini eco-environment. However, i often question how long I should stay in China and am considering an exodus in July. It is very difficult for me to live amongst all the pollution and not have the ability to escape to the wilderness. I do believe though that it is important for idealistic people to be in China, raising awareness and nurturing progress that is positive. The "slowdown" is an excellent time to change manufacturing modalities to green technology and to develop infrastructure that is more community and environmentally driven but alas, there is a majority of stimulus being put toward the classic, carbon based construction projects. ((sigh))
Everything is good to juice! I've had citrus and bok choy juices often! I am thankful that there is an abundance of fruit markets in the city. As every block has a convenient store full of processed food, it also has an overflowing fruit shop as well. I am scared of the lack of organics in general though, and I at least peel all of the fruit that I juice and secretly hope that most farmers are too poor for chemicals.
Create a beautiful day!
Yay! Lei! I think we are the only GTMR members in China. Namaste. It makes me feel better to know I am not alone! I have been living off of kumquats lately, you? Reading your profile, I am in total agreeance about how alarming it is to witness the scale of Chinas growth. I think it is really positive that manufacturing has been startlingly decreased because it gives the world an opportunity to consider of what value and cost material goods really are. Unfortunately, as reiterated by Hu Jintao in recent meetings, China plans to ease the "economic slowingdown" by increasing consumerism nationally! I am really intrigued by your permaculture idea and would love to hear more; I can help. Lovely to be introduced through this forum. Create a beautiful day!
hey! =D well my parents have a health business and i've been helping and have great interest in it. =D i love anything to do with great health/and well being. i've also heard that going to college is a waste of time. when i was in regular school i didn't agree with what they were teaching us. it was like the system was trying to make the kids think a certain way... and everything else other than what was being taught would be considered crazy. i remember in health class in 9th grade i told one of the students that microwaves are dangerous to ones health, and the teacher jumped in saying i had no scientific proof - hahaha. i guess it just depends what one wants in life. if i was in regular school i can imagine my life being so different from what it is now. what were the up/downsides of college?? =D
I went to Beijing for a week in December and stayed 100% raw. They had tons of fruit on every corner; it was a pleasant surprise. I would probably have to bring green food though; couldn't find any decent organic greens.
I have read the I Ching, that's really interesting. I've never done a divination, but have always been curious about doing them.
Laozi's DaoDeJing is probably my favorite book. You said you live near a Taoist mountain, so what kind of stuff goes on there?
I'll let you know where I get in. I'm thinking Beijing would probably be better, but I'm not sure.
I think, because the Chinese people I know are so growth-oriented and perfectionistic, they might be more open to becoming raw than you might think. Two of my Chinese friends at school are 100% raw now.
Thanks for the friend request and welcome to Raw Permaculture. I'm aware of the massive industrialization and pollution problems in China but don't really know of any counter influence like we have here in the US. It's nice to see you have that desire. Power to ya!
hey =D i definitely believe that homeschooling is more effective. you can definitely think for yourself and aren't surrounded by junkfood daily. you get to choose some of your classes and don't have to waste 6 hours in a building just to waste time. of course i went to a regular school until i was 15. being around friends was fun but i definitely enjoy homeschooling more. more possibilities to see new things, more fun, and greater health. is there homeschooling in china or does everyone have to go to a public school??
Damn. Four days ago, I upped my dose from a few teaspoons each WEEK of MSM powder to a couple of tablespoons each DAY. Monday I noticed I was a quite irritable at work, impatient, and in a general daze. Yesterday, I felt the same way at work and t...
I was wondering... if the whole reality is now changed... from before Kirk launched...
Would that mean that the next series they will bring out is the original Kirk, but in this altered reality...?
Were the Hobbits raw vegan? Does the Death Star look like a honeydew melon to you? Have you ever played Halo or WoW while juice feasting? Would Superman be even stronger if he got monthly colonics? Discuss all these questions and more right here.

In NYC, petite models are pretty hard to book, because there are so few! I know one, Miss Asian America and she's constantly busy doing commercials!
