sounds like if she threw up after eating. her body doesn't want food at that that time. and it's busy with other stuff. we aren't programmed like machines - who need petrol or will not go. we need food as our fuel - but if the engine is fixing it...

Profile Information

About Me:
My personal philosophy is transitioning right now. Growing up, I was pumped with the idea that education, career and finances were the most highly regarded values. Two years out of college and I'm realizing this just isn't the case. It may not sound significant but, for me it definitely is a milestone. I'm patiently working on an existential level to redefine my values and outlook on life.

Though not there yet, I know I will have succeeded in this mission when I'm comfortable leaving my career behind and following an unconventional and yet undetermined path.

Part of this transition has been my health and taking responsibility for it. When I was a year old I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Recently I started experiencing some symptoms of diabetes and that was the wake up call I needed. I realized unless I made some drastic changes, things would continue to progress in the negative direction. I decided to change my eating and exercise habits in an attempt to take control of my health. To the outsider it may appear that I am on a diet but to me this is an all encompassing lifestyle change.
How can the community best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, fitness tips, etc)
I think the best support from the community would be in the form of recipes and recommendations on what to eat. Sometimes I get locked into eating the same few items, I'd like to broaden my recipes and learn about other options.
Relationship Status:
Single
Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
Sprouted quinoa, celery, red pepper, tomato, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil
Interests (outside of Raw Food):
Reading, Cycling, Yoga, Glass Blowing, Kiteboarding
Favorite Books or Authors:
A recent favorite is; There Is a Cure For Diabetes by Cousens
Favorite Quote:
"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our mind" - Bob Marley.
GI2MR Oath: I promise to do my best to keep this community drama free. I will not name call or throw around personal attacks. I pledge to be respectful even if I do not agree with another member's opinion. When possible, I'll try to smile : )
Yes! I accept the GI2MR Oath.

Healthy Spirit

Every 6 months my company does a "Healthy Spirit" health checkup. Basically they give you a free t-shirt or $25 gift card to get your height/weight, glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure measured. The women who did the checkup was a registered nurse who works for a local hospital. The nurse asked about my general health and I informed her of my type 1 diabetes, leading to a slew of questions. After we got through the diabetic talk I informed her that I'm a raw vegan. Ironically, amongst other… Continue

I wrote about my experience in quitting my job, if you'd care to read. It was almost a year ago to the day. http://www.welikeitraw.com/rawfood/2008/11/my-way-charles.html

Hi! Well.. I was 17 and living in Mexico and really wanted to go to college. It was the only way I was sure I'd be able to pay for it. My thoughts and vaules concerning the military have evolved throughout my years of experience and a very intense love/hate relationship with it.

Just the other day I had an epiphany with that Bob Marley quote. lol. Taking it out of the context (from singing it to reading it) turned on a light bulb for me. =D

Peace and Love!

I wanted to write to you since you're in Wichita: my husband graduated from Wichita State. But when I read your profile and see your courage in light of Type 1 diabetes, I'm really inspired. Sometimes I think raw is really hard ("I get c-o-l-d," I whine), but when I look at what you're doing and it puts it all in perspective. Thanks.

well people around me especially my family seem to look down on the fact that I am ambious. well, overly ambitious maybe :) I change my mind about what I want to do every other week it seems but its just because id rather be happy than make alot of money. But its a weird balance because obviously you need enough money to be comfortable and not stressed out all the time, so im basically just trying to find a way to put my passions to work :)

my magic bullet burnt out, it was good for travelling while I had it though. Can you get a second hand blender? The cheaper ones I have used don't chop up the greens as well. Try to get something with a higher wattage, like 1000watt.
