It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...

my magic bullet burnt out, it was good for travelling while I had it though. Can you get a second hand blender? The cheaper ones I have used don't chop up the greens as well. Try to get something with a higher wattage, like 1000watt.

New Zealand is just more environmentally conscientious than most places. I guess being an island is part of the reason. I loved NZ when I visited.

Hi Kelly :) Yes I do love the beautiful warm weather we get here! And yes I do eat a lot of fruit hehe. My favourite place to go at the moment is the Northey St markets, if you're visiting again it's a great place to hang out on a Sunday.

Hey Kelly, I love your blog, it's going on my regular reading list! Also going to try out your dip recipes for my sweetie - haven't got him off bread yet, but at least I've got him to fill his sandwich with raw dips and salad - little steps. Melbourne is indeed a great place to be right now for raw foodies. Hope you decide to join us over here!

Hi Kelly, yeah Ceres is great. We just had a raw restaurant open up in Melbourne which is awesome as well. Am a kiwi chick myself, grew up all over NZ and moved over here when I was 16. How is the raw scene in Wellington and NZ?

Hi Kelly,
I'm planning to move to NZ soon and so far Wellington seems to be the right choice. How is the raw-vegan community over????

don't agree with the whole raw food creating a damp environment thing because of the wildly different effects of different raw foods. i've found candida to respond to 100% raw, several different approaches.

I like to do fasts as well and I think the power in fasting is that its a remedial action, one part of the process of purifiying. For instance if you feel you have a lot of non-virtuous residue or spiritual obstacles to remove, you generate regret...

we are hugely blessed to have Loren here i so agree... ahh complete rest with eyes closed....sounds wonderful...just the not eating part for that long,i guess after a while you would lose your 'hunger' anyway ??

i would say give it time...if you are feeling flu like symptoms i would say you are detoxing...40 days isnt a long time, when you consider how long you havent been 100% well..your body will heal and clean house in its own time....
