Hi Kaitlyn....thanks for connecting!
I wish I could give you a formula for how I arrived where I am today, but it has simply evolved. I really just filled a void that I saw within my own community after having spent some time with Dhrumil, Karen Knowler, Philip McCluskey and others at a raw event in New York. I longed for that kind of dynamic in my own city and so I came home and set about trying to create a raw food community.

I have learned that it's true, "Build it and they will come." I never set out to become a speaker, coach or writer....everything has just evolved as the needs were there. There are so many people who are starving for quality education about raw and living foods and the shifts in awareness that seem to accompany such dietary changes.

I don't have a formal certification, although I am a certified raw food chef and have taken many, many classes from some of the most brilliant leaders in this field over the past 4 years.

I wish you you all the best and encourage you to be the change you hope for in this world!

Warmly,

Penni

You can teach at Corepower and gyms after you get the cert. Corepower likes you to do an internship beforehand. It's possible to make a living teaching yoga, but you have to be extremely determined, there are a lot of challenges to it, but if you love it, of course you can do it. I think it's easier in Denver than in Boulder. I am NOT able to make a living teaching in Boulder... but I know a few people who are. I also think it's part of my personal karma to struggle a bit in Boulder, though, so your path may be different from mine. I hope that helps :)

Hi Kaitlyn, nice to meet you. I am a teacher for Corepower in Boulder and found that it was a nice way to start teaching. I had been practicing Ashtanga yoga for 7 years before doing the training with CP... but enjoyed the experience with them. I love teaching yoga! Let me know if you have specific questions. Cheers!

Hey Kaitlyn!!!! That's so cool that you were able to visit some of the Bastyr centers!! I really think it's the greatest school. They have open houses for prospective students all the time...you can go listen to speakers, eat in the vegetarian cafe, even sit in on some classes. Next time you are in town you definitely have to go for a visit! Unfortunately I haven't been able to start my courses there yet as my life got a little crazy, so I am hoping to actually be able to begin in the fall. I wish I could tell you everything about the classes and instructors, but I just don't know yet!! I can tell you from the events though that this school is perfect for people like us who live a holistic and natural lifestyle. My Naturopath is a Bastyr alumni and she is the one who really encouraged me to apply. Graduated from there allowed her to open 3 nutrition clinics in the Seattle area and she is very happy and successful. Feel free to message me anytime if there is anything I can answer for you!

All almonds sold in California are treated with a gaz or a chemical, in both cases the almond does not sprout, it is hence dead.
