A good friend has been doing the Shangri-La Diet recently (basically either a glass of sugar water or a shot of extra light olive oil 2x/day spaced out an hour from other foods). It is working for her (in terms of weight loss) but I'm concerned ab...

Decrease omega-6s so your body can process more omega-3. My ratio is about 1 o3: 3 o6

Funny, I was pondering this very question last night. Looking forward to reading the answers. Last time I got a physical done, my HDL was on the low side too.

Recently had bloodwork done and all my numbers look pretty good (LDL = 72, Trigylcerides = 93). However, my HDL was at 43. I've heard 40+ is good but also the higher the better (one doctor suggests shooting for 60/60/60 for LDL/HDL/Tris). I'm wond...

Seth has a really cool take on things, I think - he's very into "self-experimentation" and doing what works, tracking your results and letting the numbers do the talking. As a scientist I'm sympathetic to that, and I've also benefitted from his ad...

I've been reading a lot of Seth Roberts' stuff (his Shangri-La Diet book is very interesting) lately and the last few months he's been on a tear when it comes to fermented foods. Here are some of his posts: http://www.blog.sethroberts.net/categor...

Hi Jon,
I just looked at your website and am so amazed that you have tutors in Esperanto. I am fortunate to be one of those rare children whose parents taught this international language to them from birth so I've been speaking it all my life. I also speak Russian and Spanish. I love that you are making languages so much more accessible to people!
I just moved back to the Bay Area after living in Southern California for a while and would love to connect with the raw enthusiasts here. Please let me know if there are any gatherings or events coming up!

I believe that the body can heal itself if given the support. I'm a nurse in a nursing home and I've seen the body cling to life no matter how much poison is thrown at it.

Sounds ridiculous to me. Anyone actually older and experiencing longevity there? I doubt it. I live out in the country in the general direction of God's fart zone and perhaps that's better than getting caught up in this sort of materialistic stuff...

they gossip about which teams are going to trade or sign star players. Most of it is bullshit. They just create rumors to sell papers / get hits. Still I eat it up.

Hi agree with Erin, everything she suggested is very similiar to wha ti have found. I am also seeing an accupuncturist and realize that we actually need cooked foods in our diet to support the spleen. Healing with whole foods is a great start..
